Whole Foods friendship heights - fraudulent charges

Anonymous
Posting this as a PSA: I am a frequent shopper at whole foods friendship heights and over the past six weeks have had a series of fraudulent charges on my receipts. First, I was charged for two extra gallons of milk, then I was charged for 14 oranges when I had only purchased two. Yesterday, I was charged incorrectly for peaches. I fortunately read my receipts--and have reported it each time but it's starting to seem like more than an innocent mistake. Each charge has been about $10-15 extra--which adds up!

I've decided to stop shopping there but wanted to flag for folks.

Seems like negligence rather than fraud. Still, it's definitely a good idea for everyone to check their receipts.

I always watch like a hawk when they are ringing up my stuff and usually manage to catch the rare slip-up. This sounds annoying though. Do they have a lot of new cashiers?

I shop at another WF and very often catch an error. The largest was when they double charged for a $29 piece of fish! Gotta watch 'em like a hawk!

My husband ALWAYS checks his receipt at the Bethesda Whole Foods (River Rd) right after paying. He goes there every week. He catches an error perhaps once every 3 months.
I sometimes shop at the Rockville Whole Foods (Rockville Pike) and mistakes there are also rare.

OP, I think these "mistakes" made at Friendship Heights are way above the norm, and are perhaps deliberate. You should talk to the manager if you haven't already done so.

At friendship heights was charged for two 15-bottle cases of sparkling water instead of 12-bottle cases. Was refunded the difference when I brought it up on a return trip but was annoying.

Georgetown WF has sold us expired meat and dairy that has gone bad before expiration date.

Op here: ive brought it to the managers attention but still having issues. This has happened way too many times to just be negligence. Pretty shady....

I have had this happen to me as well, at that whole foods as well as the one in Rockville. I don't think it's an accident.

Whole Foods has been doing this for years in many states. They get caught, pay a fine, go back to doing it again. I quit going there after getting charged double on some items more than a few times.

Everyone talks bad about Walmart but they never do this. F Whole Paycheck.

This happened to me 17 times (yup...all recorded and documented). I had a colleague right a letter and was prepared to sue. We settled but its a VERY common issue.

Wow I never check.

Op here: if I was going to try to report this to a state/national entity--who would I file a complaint with?
