That experiment worked really well.
As a Janney parent, this is maddening. Those classes of 30+ were pure chaos all year long. Only 53% of the kids tested PROFICIENT in English. |
| I suspect you are not going to get much sympathy here, OP, when lots of other schools aren't anywhere near 53%. |
| You can thank the previous Principal. |
|
If it makes you feel better, Lafayette had 20 kids in a class and still only 53% tested proficient in English.
I don't get it. |
yep, but these classrooms are pretty much 100% wealthy, "bright" white kids with super educated parents and almost ZERO social issues. 53% is inexcusable. A monkey should be able to get these kids to "proficient". |
| How does this compare to a similar school in MoCo? |
| Who cares? It is just a test. |
Yes, a test of proficiency in English Language Arts. |
Honest question--so these are white kids that aren't proficient in English? |
| Welcome to the geto |
I care because I'm a parent and a tax payer. I don't personally care about test scores, per se, but the District government roped our families and our children into this test, which many declare as worthless. This test required tons of instruction time to prep for. This test cost our city coffers millions....millions that could be spent on other education-related expenses. |
Yes. Both at Janney and Lafayette, the white students were less than the average for white students throughout DCPS. But for both schools, third grade seems to be an anomaly; 4th and 5th graders did much better. |
| Didn't the Janney classes have 2 teachers? Over here in VA, we have the same size but just one teacher. Not sure what the big deal was at Janney. |
Well, the PARCC test is very hard. Many educators think it is not a reasonable test. |
| Does anyone know if individual student scores will be mailed home? |
