| Going on a girls trips...most seem to think we should go to Savannah plus we want to visit Palmetto Bluff which is 20 min away. Thoughts? We will go for 4 days in late Sept. |
| Charleston, hands down. Like steak and amazing cocktails? Hall's steakhouse is the number one steakhouse in the us. Make reservations now. |
| I love Savannah, but I'd base my decision on the cheapest/easiest flight. |

I like Savannah better. A little edgier. |

Savannah, especially for girls weekend. You can walk into a bar and carry your drink anywhere in the city limits.
We stay at the Westin (more of a resort setup) directly across the river from River St. touristy stuff and the rest of downtown. Free shuttle boats go back and forth every 20-30 minutes. |
| They are similar, but Charleston is far, far better. Charleston's waterfront is much nicer and their downtown area is better too. |

Until I saw this was in the Travel forum I thought this was going to be a baby name debate!
Made popcorn for nothing. Sigh. |
What is better about Downtown Charleston? If you are coming from the DC area you can get your fill of Sushi, Thai, Louis Vuitton, and lulemon before you leave or when you get back. |
I'm confused by your argument as Savannah has Thai food, sushi, and a Lululemon too. It's waterfront is like a strip for college kids looking for cheap beer and it's not very pretty. Charleston's downtown waterfront has beautiful houses and a lovely park. Then a couple of blocks away are shops and restaurants. |
| The food is better in Charleston. |
| Lol, I thought, at first, this was another baby name choice. |
| I've never been to Charleston but I have to go to Savannah at least four times a year and I think Savannah is terribly racist. I don't like it there at all. |
+1. Went last month. Not a fan. Was not charmed. |
| I just visited both on the same vacation a few weeks ago. Charleston, hands down. |
Charleston is hands down more commercialized than Savannah. So you avoid River St. and there is a lot more green open space in Savannah with historic homes. |
