10 year anniversary trip with kids, where to go?

Anonymous
We are planning our big anniversary trip and since we haven't been away in a while, really want to splurge a bit. We have no local family help so the kids will come with us (4 and 6). I would love a beautiful beach, a hotel/resort with trustworthy kids activities/babysitting, and cool local attractions. Oh, and no Zika Any suggestions DCUM, we are not experienced travelers.

Any thought to a cruise? If you head somewhere other than the Caribbean you should be OK regarding Zika (not sure what time of year you are looking at). Cruises have awesome kids clubs, and your kids are the best ages for them - not too little, not too big to this they are babyish.

Disney cruise. Kids are perfect ages.

Why are you taking kids on an Anniversary trip?

Not judging, the thought would never enter my mind.

Absolutely Hawaii!!!! Great for adults and kids, golf, hiking, snorkeling, amazing beaches pools and food. Have so much fun and happy anniversary!

Hawaii - Hilton Hawaiian Village has good activities for kids so that the adults get some alone time.

Take kids to where there is family, leave kids, and go somewhere relatively nearby. Aunt in Indiana? Go to Chicago. Grandparents in Michigan? Go to the Grand Hotel.

It's not. It's actually a pretty good option for an anniversary trip because you can leave your kids in the kids club whenever you want adult time. (They have one or two adult restaurants, depending on the ship, and lots of adult clubs). If your kids are like ours (similar ages) they'll beg to be in the clubs as much as possible. There are definitely Disney characters around but you don't need to meet them if you don't want to. You could alspo pick a trip that has lots of excursions, like Europe and Med cruises.

I would fly them to wherever family is, drop them with family and vacation close by or fly somewhere else.

European cruise. Look at Royal Caribbean. We did a lovely Mediterranean cruise with them as a huge family, and everyone loved it, ages 3 to 73.

Why not drop them at Grandma's? Or have Grandma/Grandpa/Aunt Larla come to you?

Yes, everyone has money for that as well as family who is willing to do that.

Except ... No, that's not true.
