| Not doing it but just curious. What do you think? |
| Bought a new car a few years ago. They only let me put down $2k. |
| I was allowed 4K. The rest had to be a check. |
| No - the dealership doesn't want to pick up the card fees for the charge. |
| They will only let you put down a certain amount. It's not a good proposition for a dealer. Costs them a lot for the transaction. |
| Every time you use your credit card, the merchant pays a fee. 2% or 3% would be huge for a car purchase. |
| My dealer let me put up to 5000 on the card, for no fee. I did it for the miles. |
Same. |
| CarMax wouldn't let me. I wanted the airline miles. |
| Why would you even want to...sounds like a fast track into a financial spiral....the interest would be killer. |
I think most everyone here is talking about charging the large amount for the points/miles, then paying it off immediately. |
Because you bet points and pay it off at the end of the Month ba putting cash down. We always put some on a credit card. Why not get miles? |
obviously. the previous poster who thought folks want to carry the balance must be nuts. |
| I've also tried it several times for the reward credit. It's always been limited to a few thousand dollars, better then nothing I guess. |
| You can negotiate with the dealer. When you make an offer, just add that you want to charge $x dollars. I've done $10k before but I knew the Gm well. |
