Help me select new dining chairs.

Sorry, I can't seem to figure out how to embed the pics.

This is what my dining table looks like although mine may be a bit darker:

http://www.worldmarket.com/product/arcadia-extension-table.do?&from=fn

Our current chairs look like this:

https://www.google.com/search?q=leather+dining+chairs&biw=1280&bih=855&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=0ahUKEwj0kZ780rTOAhXTsB4KHUsAAm0Q_AUIBygC#imgrc=kOE6mvYajpXT9M%3A

I think the chairs are much too dark for the space. We don't have a kitchen big enough to eat in so this is our prime dining spot. Everything I've seen has shown this table paired with sand colored upholstered chairs which look lovely but I have two children.

Our color scheme for the room looks like this but our room is much much smaller:

I was thinking about a chair like this in French Blue:

Any other recommendations? I'm lost here.

this is a pretty traditional table, so you probably need a traditional or transitional chair to make it not look ridiculous. I was going to suggest a more modern chair since you have 2 kids, but this table seems to look best with upholstered chairs.

what about something like this, that is traditional and wood but brighter?

I actually think that this table cries out for modern.

We have these http://www.modaseating.com/Brushed-Aluminum-Navy-Side-Chair_p5000-LHSU.html?gclid=Cj0KEQjw_qW9BRCcv-Xc5Jn-26gBEiQAM-iJhSJ4AFsteywNM2X0wRl3J1jA7SUd1ipH6es_o4qHItUaAjMJ8P8HAQ

They looked great with our old antique farm table and now great with our replacement modern table.

I agree with this. I think those chairs would go well or something along that style.

Thank you! My dining room is in an open space shared with the living room which is very traditional. Would that look weird? I feel like I'd have to replace a few things in the living room to have that modern look flow through seemlessly. I tend to lean traditional.

Keep the suggestions coming!

I actually like the RH chairs you picked out, OP.

Just Scotch Guard the hell out of them.

OP here. What about these cross back chairs in dark wood with sand tie on cushions for the kids and the sand upholstered chairs from my op, at the head of the table?

I think you'll find that still too dark. That table you have is made for mix-and-matching--modern top, antique-feeling base. If you want more transitional than the aluminum chairs above (which I think work fine in a fairly traditional room) then how about white or colorful wishbone chairs? Or even light wood.

I think you are right! I like the idea of light wood mixed with the table. Thank you! The table was custom made so I can get a set of 4 wood chairs for half of what they are selling for at Pottery Barn. I will look into getting custom made chairs for the kids and the two sand colored RH upholstered chairs for the head of the table.

NP and I also like those chairs. Although the they are a bit modern, the metal makes them fee industrial to me and the overall profile isn't too funky, so I could see it working with traditional decor if you worked in a few touches of rustic/industrial design or modern (whichever you prefer). There's a HUGE benefit to going more modern with chair design. Usually more ergonomic and easier to clean and maintain. I will never go back to upholstered dining chairs or chair pads--even the idea of it seems strange and bordering on gross.

Everything you see from this company can be ordered in woods ranging from very light to very dark, can have a myriad of upholstery choices or not. Very quality stuff that is made in America. Indestructible, but will cost you a bit more (but worth it). This is furniture you will pass down.

^ Suggesting this shop because you can sit in many chairs. The feel of a chair matters as well as its looks. We sit at our table a lot and wanted to make sure the chairs were comfortable. You might actually want to go more eclectic and order different chairs for different people (children's bodies are different from yours). You could go with similar styles in the same wood to make them sort of match or go with the same upholstery elements or whatever. But everyone should be comfortable in the chairs.
