Such a terrible story. He was only 10. And, that water slide looks nuts.

What a nightmare. I can totally see my boys wanting to go on a ride like that at that age.

I'm not sure what happened but how awful for that family. So sad.

I am not a thrill-seeker AT ALL, but DD likes the crazy rides.

I feel stupid trying to hold her back and completely understand that the risk of something happening like this is minuscule compared to a car accident, etc. But, ugh, these rides are just crazy.

There were some delays in opening the slide back in 2014, but that was just with the system getting the rafts up to the top.

What happened to the other 2 riders? Did it happen on the slide or did he fly off of it?

This is tragic, but it will only increase the demand to go on the ride.

Life v death is the ultimate thrill. Just look at how disney's bookings have gone through the roof since the alligator thing....

I read in another article he was decapitated by the restraints. Apparently they are caged in with netting so can't fly off the tube.

No there were also issues with the "test dummies" flying off. The principles were based on roller coasters which didn't work exactly the same for water. It sounds as though this ride wasn't safe to start with.
