| I'm talking supplements, not food. My kid has gone off the gummies. |
| miralax in water |
|
Fiber One granola bars, muffins, cookies, or any of their line.
Carrots def move things along too. |
|
Fruit smoothies with frozen spinach blended in worked wonders. I also added ground flax when I could; DC learned to hate the taste after a while. Make sure to include lots of sweet fruit - like peaches or ripe banana (just a little).
I know you said supplements... but miralax was a black hole for us. Our child was on it for years before we got him to get his fiber from food. The sooner you get your child on high-fiber foods, the better. But I'm sure you know that! Good luck! |
| Fiber One chewy chocolate chip and oatmeal is awesome! |
|
We did psyllium mixed in apple sauce and then switched to these psyllium fiber cookies.

We did Miralax in juice.
But Trader Joe's has 2 food options that are really awesome. The high fiber bagels have loads of fiber, and the high fiber chocolate chip cereal bars also. I think each has something like 9 grams of fiber, so one of each of those in a day, plus a serving or two of fruit, and you are basically at the recommended amount even for a high fiber diet. My kids really like both of those items. (The TJ brownie bars also have a decent amount of fiber, but not as much as the high fiber bars.) And I add chia seeds to our smoothies and baked goods for extra fiber. |
| Fiber One bars gave both of mine really bad farts, that burned their bottoms and gave them awful rashes. Most high fiber foods have added inulin, which is the main fiber in Fiber One bars. We avoid them. |
Same here. They give me horrible gas pains and I would not feed anything I knew had inulin in it to my kids |
| Just eat some fruit |
| This is OP. Please clue me in on the inulin. I was just looking at some chewable tabs that promoted that they had inulin. Why don't I want it? |
| Once you get used to prunes they are highly effective and very yummy! |
|
It wasn't until I was like 31, when I discovered how delicious prunes are. I thought they were old people food and probably tasted like raisins laced with kale.
They are delicious and like candy! They are naturally portion control (unfortunately, because they are so dang delicious). |
I'm a PP who mentioned it gives me gas pains. I haven't extensively researched it. I just know it really upsets my stomach so I try to stick with natural fiber foods, not foods where they just add inulin. I avoid it for my kids just because I know how it effects me but seems like many people are fine with it. |

My son will not eat plain prunes, but he loves these yogurt covered prune bites: https://www.sunsweet.com/products/plumsweets-greek/
I think I found them at Safeway. |
