| Has this been confirmed by others. I'm wary of calling because I will lose my temper. Who could have possibly thought that level of an increase mid-year was appropriate? I could understand 3% per year or something reasonable, but this is outlandish. Wrong. |

I posted a recent thread about this, based on an email I got from my financial coordinator. Several people were skeptical but it's real.
The reason I got was that 'they had not raised their rates for a very long time'. |
| What gets my goat is that FET is so much less involved than a fresh cycle. Couple of ultrasounds, lining check and the actual transfer. |
| Well I suppose transferring the embryos to another clinic is an option, right? |
| I'm still pissed they overstimulated me which resulted in having to do a freEze all. Technically my insurance company paid for a transfer that never happened and then as a result had to pay again |
| The medical consequences are very serious. More women will put in too many embryos. More twins and multiples. It is ridiculous. They should never have done this via a drastic increase. It's awful. I hope there is publicity and a backlash. I'll contact the Washington Post tomorrow. |
| Did they change the cost of shared risk for FETs? |
| Website still says $4600, dated May 9 of this year. Maybe they haven't updated it yet? |
Possible. The brochure I received was for June 2016, with the $7100 price for FET. |
FET should be covered under shared risk. This would only affect self-payers not part of any packages. |
Right but they had a shared risk program if you just have frozen embryos. It was $11,000 so I'm wondering what that went up to. $7,100 for a FET is outrageous. There are barely any appointments. |
| So for PPs who got the brochure with the new pricing - did the cost of a fresh cycle go up as well? It wouldn't make sense to bump up only FETs IMHO. |
| No, only FET. |
| I did IUI with SG last year and they drove me crazy with their charges! There are times they will charge me twice for a procedure and literally I had to produce a receipt to prove them wrong! I'm sorry you have to go through this now. I know it can be extremely frustrating! I suggest you transfer to another clinic. I just had an IVF done in FL. My RE has an office in VA as well but the IVF is done in FL office only. I'm pleased with the clinic treating me like a real human being. |

What is so sad about this: in 2014 I had a freeze-all cycle because my P4 rose before trigger and I overstimmed. They tried to tell me they would give me a discount if I paid out of pocket so I could save one of my transfers that insurance covered--freeze-all still counted a transfer for insurance. They were going to charge me like 2,500 for the FET out of pocket. I said no and went with insurance. It was only when I was leaving SG to go elsewhere for treatment that I found out my insurance only paid 1,500 per an FET.
Go elsewhere and transfer! Also, this almost up there when I was a new patient at SG and they sent me a Happy Mother's Day email. LOL. I can laugh about it now....but it was pretty horrific! |
