Maryland Kids Attending DC Schools

Anonymous
Hello Everyone,

I'm an editor for a legislative newspaper and I have a reporter working on a story about Maryland kids attending schools DC taxpayers pay for:

http://dailycaller.com/2016/07/10/dc-government-chooses-maryland-kids-over-tax-paying-residents-for-school-slots/

I was wondering if anyone from this forum would be interested in talking to my reporter about this phenomenon. If any of you have experience with this and would like to speak openly about it, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks!

Are you from The Daily Caller or another publication? Your post was unclear about that.

Perhaps if the reporting and editing had been better I might. But you guys took a real issue and made a mess of it with that series.

I believe the poster is from the The Heartland Institute who is sponsoring the research that is being published by the Daily Caller.

Well, if that's what they call "research" they should be ashamed.

PP here. I'm a DCPS mom and am all riled up! The thing is, those stories were so poorly done it really takes the wind out of the argument. Now, if a real news source wants to do some real reporting, that would be very worthwhile.

So then it would be published for their School Reform News monthly newspaper?

My guess is that it stems from their publication...

"School Reform News OCLC 36348753 ISSN 1092-8839, which calls for greater competition and school choice;"

Where did you learn they sponsored it?

The editor and I exchanged emails. Looking at the email again, she may be working on a new article for School Reform News and is just linking to the Daily Caller article to show what she is talking about. Maybe this OP has nothing to do with the Daily Caller.

I applaud the efforts, OP. If I had any real info to share I would do it in a heartbeat.
