I think you mean had the Afghan not assassinated her, she’d still be alive.

If Trump hadn't rescinded his and his family's legal status, he would not have been so desperate. Trump's actions have horrible consequences.

True. And if Trump hadn’t placed NG in DC serving no actual purpose - just for his propaganda footage - she wouldn’t have been killed. The shooter is responsible but so is Trump and his series of horrible, selfish actions.

Actually NG has accomplished a lot to reduce crime. Memphis is a better example than DC, but it’s just not true that they haven’t accomplished anything.

Sincere question: how do you know? Are there firm stats on this?

And even if you can prove that they "accomplished a lot to reduce crime," what is the long-term plan? Have troops on the streets of blue cities permanently? I mean, Covid and the shutdowns lowered certain types of crimes significantly but no one wants to go through that again.

Sincere answer: you clearly wouldn’t be persuaded by any data because you don’t want to be, but if you were open to the truth, you’d know by now.

Long term is a better question. I am ok with NG staying in Memphis as long as it takes, though. We don’t have to just live with sky high murder rates forever. We can do things.

NG could end up losing a lot of money for a long term assignment. This would be insanity, putting them in debt. I work with someone in DC national guard. Luckily our workplace will supplement the difference between ger NG income vs her real job income (which is over 100k), but that stops after six months. Saying NG should continue this indefinitely, such that many incur debt or put their personal finances in jeopardy, is really not thinking this through.

I thought he was granted asylum and in the process of getting a green card? That’s what BBC is reporting.

In May, USCIS revoked Temporary Protected Status for Afghanistan:

3 days ago, it was reported that USCIS was reopening all previously approved asylum applicants:

Reminder: Trump and Pompeo went behind everyones' backs and sold Afghanistan out to the Taliban.

That was a huge betrayal to many Afghans who had fought alongside our own troops to try and rid Afghanistan of Islamist extremists. We tried to do right by them by evacuating some to America, but Trump is now betraying them again.

What happened is horrific and inexcusible but there's certainly a glaring motive right there. I could see how multiple betrayals, coupled with wartime PTSD could make someone snap.

Keep America out of the middle east entirely.

Not our problems.

Which is why the left invests in renewable energy, so there is less global reliance on middle eastern oil. Why does the GOP oppose that? Why is MAGA dismatling renewable installations that were in the verge of going live, wasting billions of dollars?

Yeah, oil really isn't why we're invading the middle-east. You can put up all the windmills you want and we'll still be bombing places like Iran and Syria because that's what the people who own our politicians expect for their investment.

DP to add, this is such a cop out answer. Democrats love data; Republicans generally run on rhetoric. If you have data, post it. Otherwise you just sound like you are putting up a front.

You know what I want to know? What worked to drive the DC homicide rate down in 2011-2014-ish? All time low of 88 in 2012 in a Democratic run city, no NG present.

DP.
“You really need months and months of this data to be able to draw a conclusion,” said crime analyst Jeff Asher of AH Datalytics. “If crime was already falling, you did the intervention and it kept falling, what does that show?”

Debunked!

No, the video does not show what the poster claims. The clip depicts a moment from a September 5, 2023, White House Medal of Honor ceremony honoring retired Army Capt. Larry Taylor for his Vietnam War heroism. In the footage, President Biden presents the medal to Taylor, interacts briefly with him and others, and then exits the East Room stage as the closing benediction begins—leaving Taylor standing alone onstage for the prayer. However, this was a planned departure, not an abrupt or disrespectful "walkout," as the poster suggests.Key Context from the CeremonyWhat the full event looked like: The 30-minute ceremony included Biden's remarks, the medal presentation, and a benediction. Biden arrived masked (per CDC guidelines at the time), removed his mask only to speak and present the medal, then re-masked before leaving. He spent time congratulating Taylor and his family beforehand.

Why Biden left early: First Lady Jill Biden had tested positive for COVID-19 two days earlier (September 3, 2023). The White House stated the exit was pre-arranged to minimize close contact during the group prayer, where attendees would stand closer together. Biden himself tested negative multiple times that day and showed no symptoms. Attendees at the event barely noticed his departure.

The poster's exaggeration: Claims that Biden "walked out on" the ceremony, "left him" (Taylor) like troops in Afghanistan, or showed disdain are unfounded. The clip (about 46 seconds long) is selectively edited to start mid-presentation and end abruptly at the exit, omitting the planning and context. No evidence suggests Taylor or attendees felt disrespected—Taylor later praised Biden publicly.

This incident drew criticism from conservative outlets and social media (including the poster's 2023 version of this clip), but fact-based reporting confirms it was a routine health precaution, not negligence. The post revives an old, debunked narrative for political effect.

I think you mean if the US had not invaded Afghanistan, which caused Afghanis to have to escape to the US, she would still be alive.

True. Perpetual wars of the deepstate swampers.

Glad we finally have an anti-war president.

Wait? The guy who is indiscriminately killing Venezuelans in the middle of the ocean? That guy?

The guy who threatened to invade Greenland? The guy who's threatening to invade Nigeria, Colombia, Venezela and Mexico? He's anti-war? LMAOOO!

The rubes believe his lies.

Threatening is a long way from boots on the ground in the same way that words don't create reality.

The BlueAnon set are really going crazy with this one.

To be fair to BlueAnons, there some smoke here, and we have a long history of cover ups in this country. Its so crazy most people don't even think about the Route 91 shooting any more, when there was so many fishy details and unanswered questions.

What smoke?

Did you miss the whole CIA connection bit?

Put down the crack pipe.

Sounds very convincing— what with all the carefully delineated details that you’ve so thoughtfully provided to support your assertions. /s

National Guard shooter Rahmanullah Lakanwal, his wife, & five kids were moved straight into Walton Place Apartments — subsidized housing partnered with the Bellingham Housing Authority.

The waitlist for American families is six months to three years.

American elderly, disabled, single moms, & veterans are pushed aside while Afghan migrants are given priority.

How did this POS repay America? By taking the lives of our American troops.
