So in the attempt to create a fake controversy out of Arlington, the DNC now has put itself in a PR battle against…..the families of soldiers slain in the Afghanistan debacle.

Wowie.

It’s like they can’t help themselves. Like lemmings, rushing to the cliff. So, so, incredibly tone deaf.

How do you feel about a former President smiling and giving a thumbs up while surrounded by the graves of dead soldiers, sailors, and airmen?
It reminded me of the picture of Tump with the orphaned infant from the El Paso shooting, standing there smiling and giving a thumbs up next to a baby who lost both parents to yet another mass shooting. I mean, how callous and unfeeling must a person be, that that is his standard response when confronted with grief?

Where I’m from, a thumbs up is a universal sign of support/camaraderie.

Where I’m from, a grinning thumbs up is what people do when they win the lottery, not when they are paying respects to the dead or visiting an orphaned baby. I come from a military family. I would be shocked and deeply disturbed if a former Commander in Chief acted in this manner at my family members’ graves.

You’d also be shocked and deeply disturbed if your family member was killed at Abby Gate at the hands of Biden Harris decision making.

Biden/Harris don’t influence Trump’s comportment. And Trump did plenty to put those plans in motion while he was still in office, or have you forgotten all of that? None of them were blameless here.

These 13 service members were alive when Trump was still president.

Republicans are so nauseating when it comes to their hypocrisy and military deaths.

See Trump actually did that.

They don't count the Khan family....'cause they're not what a MAGA would consider "real Americans." We're supposed to pretend the Khans don't highlight precisely why "identity politics" are the obsession of MAGA bigots and racists who spit on dead soldiers with their support of that draft dodging, entitled, elitist Queens blob.

The families were smiling too. They appeared glad that he took the time to be there while Joe and Kamala were at the beach.

The father was on FOX several months ago attacking Biden. Stop pretending this wasn't political from the get-go. People can clearly see the games that family was playing. They've never made a secret of being MAGA and they used their dead son for political purposes. And they didn't give a damn about the other soldiers there. Gold Star families are not above criticism when they do something like THIS for their OWN reasons.

Everything Trump touches, he destroys. So sick and tired of his divisiveness and sowing of hate. The sooner he is gone from the national stage the better.

Darlin, these videos are in response directly to Kamala. Keep up.

Hunny bun Trump deliberately turned a visit to hallowed ground into a campaign photo op, using images where he stood and grinned next to a grave of a soldier whose family was not asked if his gravestone could be in their campaign ad. Who does that? Someone truly despicable. Americans are tired of this person who has turned us all into haters of each other.

Bullsh!t.

You’d still hate me every bit as much as you do now even if Donald Trump didn’t even exist in the first place. Stop pretending this is even about Trump. It’s about your hatred of me and the millions of others just like me. Donald Trump is just a figurehead. No, they didn't. If anything, these Gold Star families wanted the public to know that Trump showed up to honor their dead children - but Biden (vacationing at the beach) and Harris (campaigning) didn't bother to come even though they were invited.

AGAIN: THE FATHER WAS ON FOX **MONTHS** AGO ATTACKING BIDEN. STOP. LYING.

This family had a political agenda. The invite to Biden and Harris was not genuine. Daddy is full-on MAGA. It's actually disgusting he'd use his son this way.

Not a single person called Mitt Romney supporters "cultists". Not a single person called McCain supporters "cultists."

You are too brainwashed to comprehend the damage you MAGA have done to the very foundation of this country. Are we supposed to love a group of psychos who literally beat the sh*t out of cops at the Capitol on behalf of an anti-American, anti-democratic rapist who couldn't handle losing and also wouldn't spit on you if you were on fire? And the same psychos telling everyone 1/6 never happened. Tucker Carlson handed hours of footage to "prove" whatever the hell you psychos think DIDN'T happen and he showed like five mins because it DID happen. Texts showing how low FOX would sink to lie to you people. The endless list of violations of the law, decorum and decency...and you want to pretend it would be the same reaction as if you had nominated another Republican?

Meanwhile, if a Dem so much as spit gum on the Capitol steps, you'd be calling for the arrest of every Dem.

I’m one of who accused them of politicizing it and we’re a military family. Here’s the thing, serving in the military or having a family member who serves doesn’t make you an infallible god. So I can - brace yourself- support and appreciate their sacrifice AND recognize that many of them are sadly not immune from the polarization and tribalism of American politics today. Military members are supposed to show leadership, integrity, and professionalism by NOT being political. Families aren’t held to this standard but a former president SHOULD have the integrity to stop it from happening - the self awareness to not let himself be used. But Trump wanted exactly that. Families who are inserting themselves in this for attention are stepping on it. The only family that has a place to speak out is the family that didn’t give permission for their son’s grave to be a part of this grotesque display.

You are disgusting! You need to sit down and listen to the 8 families speak to Kamala Harris. This is about THEM, not you or your politics.

Using histrionics doesn't make your point. 40% of the country is now MAGA. I'm not surprised he was able to cobble together 8 families to speak for his disgusting acts. Again, more service members died under him than Biden (0 have died under the D candidate btw), but MAGA seems fixated on these 13 bc it's all they have

DP. And what about the others buried in section 60, with families that did NOT want their graves in a political ad? Do their wishes not matter? Are all the graves open to being used as campaign fodder?

Again, why do the rules of Arlington not apply to everyone? The family and Trump's campaign entourage were told the rules. Why are you ok with the fact that they chose to violate them?

I'm not that person, but let me tell you what's actually disgusting: I don't expect ANYONE to love or like Harris or Biden, because I don't. You can hate them all you want, I couldn't give less of a sh*t.

However, actual "disgust" should be reserved for any military family who actively supports Trump. You are self-loathing and you have no self-respect. For someone like me, there is no reason you could support him and look good, esp. if you are military. It is grotesque for you to support someone who thinks you are a sucker and loser. He said that. You can stupidly deny it and pretend he didn't and desperately excuse it away, but I f***ing know exactly how someone like him thinks. Most military families are lower/middle class. To Trump, that makes you a loser and poor. That's why he calls those who serve suckers and losers. You make almost no money for dying for "nothing" in his mind. He did not want wounded vets at his parade because he's all about IMAGE. What he sees is someone who makes HIM look bad.

He doesn't give a sh*t if your kid had his legs blown off serving and got every award, medal and honor. Meaningless to him. He's more impressed with an Oscar or Emmy than your dead kid's purple heart. You're a fool if you think stating the obvious about Trump is "desperation" on our part. Every pathetic response you come up with to defend his indefensible behavior is weaker than the last.

The man has NO respect for the military. None. He put it in his will he didn't want his kid serving or they'd be disowned. He's an elitist who looks down on service and sacrifice. The scum has more respect for a money-making sex trafficker than any one of you who served. Stop lying to yourselves about what he thinks, because that is desperation.[i] Stop convincing yourselves anyone is "triggered" or "desperate" or whatever low IQ response you have to deflect from the fact that you support putrid trash.

DP. You are the one that is completed brainwashed by your cult leader.

63 soldiers died under Trump's administration. He has NEVER gone to visit their graves. He has never given condolences to their families. He has never met with them. Why?

Trump is the one who negotiated the withdrawal from Afghanistan without consulting with the Afghan government, made promises to the Taliban, forced the Afghan government to release hostages before any concessions were made from the Taliban. He is the one who reduced the US military presence in Afghanistan from 13,000 soldiers to 2500 WITHOUT ANY PLAN FOR WITHDRAWAL. Trump had nearly a year (11 months) after his negotiations to start making withdrawal plans but made virtually no plans. Biden had 6 months from when he was elected, 4 months from when he was inaugurated to then craft plans and implement them. He extended this 3 months by moving the withdrawal date back 3 months. Trump deliberately set Biden up to fail. And during the 11 month period, more than 13 soldiers died under his watch while he did NOTHING. Then there have been 2 other anniversaries of the deaths of the Abbey Gate families. If they mattered to much to him, why has he not visited them once in the last 3 years? He only chooses to visit them in an election year when he is mere weeks away from an election. It is so blatantly specifically a campaign stop and a political advertisement.

He has never made any official visits to ANC to visit the graves of any of the soldiers whose death he commanded. He calls them losers and suckers and he says that their service is less important and less worthy of acknowledgement than people who make political donations to him. So clearly, it isn't any concern for the soldiers or their families for the sacrifices of those under his command. He's never cared for the soldiers that were under his command for four years.

So, if the deaths of soldiers is so important, why is he more concerned with the deaths of soldiers that died under Biden due to Trump's lack of planning for 11 months? Why is he more concerned with 13 solders who died under Biden's command than he is for the 63 that died under his command?

Additionally, the Gold Star families invited Trump to the gravesite, but did not invite either Biden or Harris to the gravesite, so this was a personal visit at their request. But, if he was honoring the soldiers, why did he need to take photos and videos of his visit and publicize them on his official TeamTrump X account if it wasn't just a political advertisement? The agreement was that any photos or videos taken would be for momentos of the Gold Star families, so the photos and videos were not supposed to be for his political campaign but he used it for that anyways. And using them for a political campaign is expressly against the rules of the cemetary as was made very clear to them multiple times before the visit. In fact, it was highlighted when ANC first refused the permit Trump and the campaign to visit, then when he got Speaker Johnson involved, the visit was approved, but the photographs and videos were once again noted that the could not be used for political campaigning. And it was reiterated once again by the ANC staff member who was assaulted by the Trump staffers. So they were notified at least three times, twice in writing that they could not use any photographs or videos taken for political campaigning and yet, the videos showed up within hours of the visit on the official TeamTrump X account, which is specifically his campaign account.

Her post looks just fine.

Trump is the one who broke decorum and the regs.

There is no expectation that grieving families shouldn’t be angry and they have every right to direct their anger at whomever they want. Their anger does not supersede the rules of ANC though.

This news story really confuses me. I saw the ABC hit piece on Biden with all the Vetrans bad mouthing Biden and saying they felt disrespected. This story is one with so many details that it’s hard to follow what happened. All I remember is they Trump was there with Veteran families who died and he comforted them. I remember that it was about Afghanistan pull out. That is it.

If there were any news stories about this event I think it’s probably generated by people who want to circulate the photos with the wreath. Scuffles (sp?) get press.
