Share something that should be general knowledge, but isn't

It's incorrect to say "I'm done."

"I'm finished," is correct.

-Elementary school teacher taught me that. Not sure what the grammar rule is but I don't think it's common knowledge.

I teach in a professional school (requires an undergrad degree).

My students increasingly frequently use the word “I’s.”

“My classmate and I’s best time to meet is . . . .”

I don’t understand how anyone can think it’s a word.

Both possum and opossum correctly refer to the Virginia opossum frequently seen in North America. In common use, possum is the usual term; in technical or scientific contexts opossum is preferred.

It’s not, Merry Christmas from the Bombeck’s, it’s Merry Christmas from the Bombecks.

The Miller’s, Established 2006 should not be on your door placard. Your mailbox shouldn’t read Martinelli’s, 124 Main St.

Remember that stationERy=papER. You might ride a stationary bike that doesn’t move.

DP
If a woman has just given birth, it’s grammatically and idiomatically correct to say, “The woman delivered a baby girl,” although it’s better to say, “The woman gave birth to a baby.”

Personally, I would hope that the focus is on delivering congratulations rather than grammatical corrections when hearing such happy news.

What should it be if your name ends in an S? For example "Merry Christmas from the Jones" Joneses? Just stick with "Merry Christmas from the Jones Family?"

Adhd vs. autism is generally NOT a diagnostic conundrum. It’s definitely possible and not rare to have both but the vast majority do not and there is actually not that much symptom overlap at all viewed through a professional lens/eval (though things like trouble making and keeping friends can occur in both the root causes are quite different.)

DP, also wanted to add that a last name ending in Y is still a Y when plural. E.g. the Kennedys not the Kennedies.

Oh yes there is!

"Opossums are marsupials native to the Americas. They are characterized by white faces and sharp teeth. Possums are marsupials native to Australia and some neighboring countries. They are characterized by prehensile tails." Now you just learned something else!

50 to 70 percent of people with autism have both. Probably more. The reverse is not true though.
