Loren for a boy? Or other Anglican name?

Anonymous
We have two kids, boy/girl, who have decidedly English names. We are having a third boy and having a terrible time coming up w/ a name for him. We both like Loren a lot, but are worried about saddling him w/ "a girl's name". Any thoughts on this one? Or anyone have suggestions for other, not-too-common, Anglican/British/Welsh/Irish names?

Some other ones we are considering: Bram, Teddy, Ambrose, Bowen

I think you would definitely be saddling him with a "girl" name.

I personally like Owen, Rhys and Gareth. I have a friend whose son is Banning. I'm also quite partial to Lloyd, but that's a John Cusack thing.

PP here. Owen is very popular, though. I personally love it enough to not care about that, but YMMV.

All your name options are terrible. Your kid has to LIVE with this name, and GO THROUGH CHILDHOOD with this name.

Some kids can rock Jonas or Imogen, while other kids can't. And you have no way of knowing which type of kid you'll get.

I actually really like it.

+1 That's my DD's name.

Bram, Teddy, Ambrose, Bowen - I would not do any of those. Your DS will be made fun for a long time.

My DH is from the UK. There are normal sounding English names, too. Please don't do this to your DS.

My BIL is Loren, and he really hates it, so he has always gone by his middle name. I'd pick a middle name you love, so that if he doesn't like Loren, he has a ready alternative.

P.S. I know it's popular, but how about Liam...or maybe Glen?

I like Loren and Bowen, but I could see a boy being unhappy w/ them. Depends on what kind of kid he becomes. A confident kid won't mind. Bram and Ambrose are pretty awful.

Not Loren. A friend of mine has a son with a name that reads more "girl" than boy, and she says that if she's realized that when she named him, she'd have chosen something different.
