Ha. My DS's middle is Ambrose.
Brant? |
American here--the only Nigel I know of, and my instant association at the moment with Brexit all over the news, is Nigel Farage of UKIP. Political views may vary, but I would never want to even raise the question that I might have named my kid after Nigel Farage. Blech. Duncan and Hugh are OK (or Hugo), but Augustine sounds like a girl's name and Angus is beef in America. |
too close to Brat. |
| Loren is not Anglican! It is Scandinavian. |
|
Phineas is quite British and then down the road your son can choose whether to americanize it to Finn or not. Let HIM have the choice
If you name your kid Gregor he will always get comments about Gregor Samsa the cockroach man. "We're only making plans for Nigel." -XTC |
| How about Basil. |
oh lord |
How about Theodore and just call him teddy when he is a baby through about age two or three? |
| You know that anglican is a protestant church and not an ethnicity don't you? loren is not a good name. charles, peter, stuart, malcolm...any of those are better. |
I live Loren, but I don't think I'd use it. I like your other choices. Bram is a great name. |
|
I love Loren, but admit that the first time I met a Loren I was expecting him to be a girl.
I think all of your other choices are nice as well. My favorite Celtic name is Kian. |
| Henry is about as Anglican as you can get. Especially if you make his middle name "The Eighth". |
Haha, that's about as English as you can get -- especially if you pronounce it "Bah-sil." Nigel, as another PP posted, is also a very British name. On paper I would know that Loren is a boy and not a girl. But I think when spoken aloud there will be a lot of confusion. If that doesn't bother you, then go for it. If it does, I'd pick something else. I thought another PP's suggestion of Abraham nn Bram was great. Just Bram reminds me of Dracula. |
| Not that I truly like these, but what about Alastair, Rupert, Geoffrey, Rory, Jasper? |
Say Brant out loud. Also, by your measure, no little boy should have ever been named Brad. |
