Literally zero positive movement at Brent/Peabody

Anonymous
On the wait list for both (in bounds for one, and prox preference for the other). Both wait list numbers have only increased since the results were announced!! So maddening. Hopefully there will be at least some movement in the right direction at some point.

What year, OP?

I'd ask the same question. If its PK3/PK4, you will not be moving into Brent unless you're in position 1-3, most likely. You can always check out last years lottery data which might help put your position into more clarity: http://dcps.dc.gov/node/1150887

We got into Brent OOB (with proximity preference) several weeks ago for K, so there has been some movement.

That said there's been zero movement at SWS.

There will be two slots opening for 2nd grade at SWS, if anyone is interested. Both families moving.

That's helpful! My child's number two on the WL for 2nd at SWS. That said I'll wait until an offer before making plans around it.

Re-enrollment deadline is long past. Available seats already accounted in waitlist management based on families not re-enrolling. That would have to be a very late withdrawal. Not unheard of

What would that be uncommon? If families get off of waitlists late, they would submit a late withdrawal. I can see families holding out for the desired school.

Read bolded text. Current family is moving. Waitlists irrelevant.

I didn't know it was physically possible to be inbounds for either Brent or Peabody and also have proximity for the other. Isn't proximity like 1500 radius from the school itself? Neither is that close to the boundary. Peabody and LT, yes.

Not true. Southern Cluster boundary is just a few blocks from Brent. There are pockets where this could fly. South of Stanton Park towards East Cap, and east of 8th St. north of Penn Ave

Our house fits this description, but when I go to myschool dc, it doesn't show proximity preference, even though I am closer to Brent (1/2 mile) than Peabody (greater than 1/2 mile) using google maps. Does proximity preference show up on myschool dc for you folks?

Yes it does if your address is eligible. You can also call and ask them.

I'm the poster who got accepted into Brent OOB with proximity preference. We're inbound for the Cluster (.7 miles from Peabody) and just under .5 mikes from Brent. I did not request proximity preference, but the MySchoolDC software recognized it based on my address and gave it to me.

FYI: my child who is inbound for Watkins did not get Brent proximity, as we are only .5 miles from Watkins.

Fwiw, we live right near Eastern Market.
