Where did you get your HSG done?

Anonymous
I'm interested to hear where you got your HSG done, and whether it was an MD (radiologist or RE) or a tech/nurse who did it. My understanding is that it's not always an MD who performs the HSGs, and I only want an MD to do mine. Also, wondering how painful it was and whether this is associated with what site people get theirs done at.

I had mine done at CA hospital center by sominion's Dr Gordon. They have to clamp something to your cervix. I wouldn't want a random radiologist doing that. I wanted someone who does them a lot. It hurt for a second. I got myself so worked up about it, and it was fine.

Do you mean VA Hospital Center? When did you have it done?

Yes, I'm sorry. A few years ago, but it was booked through dominion fertility though. At least I had their RE do it.

Twice at Shady Grove, once by my RE and once by a senior tech. Once at Kaiser, by a radiologist. All went smoothly.

SG Rockville, not sure if she was a doctor. But it's a very simple procedure and you want someone who does it all the time, which may not always be an MD.

SG hospital. Had a dr do it. I found it to be a very uncomfortable procedure. I remember taking a Motrin before the procedure.

Radiologist at WHC. It was definitely unpleasant but not unbearable.

GW. Radiologist. Not painful at all.

I don't think the amount it hurts has anything to do with whether an MD or someone else does it, if that's your concern. The amount it hurts has to do with whether your tubes are blocked, usually.

At my clinic's lab.

Mine was very uncomfortable, but only in the moment (no residual pain.) It was a critical diagnostic for us though since we discovered a blocked tube.

I've moved from the DC area but mine was with the radiologist at a hospital. My Gyn told me to take 4 Advil an hour before. I did that, and didn't think it was bad at all. The radiologist said "this might be uncomfortable" and it was a quick twinge not unlike period cramps. Once the clamp was in place nothing hurt. All my tubes were clear, but I'd spent 14 months trying and got pregnant right after the HSG so
I think it did something!

Radiologist in Rockville radiology office. Not pleasant but not painful. Like a really bad cramp and I was bloated after for a while.

My RE (Dr. Sacks) performed mine at Washington Radiology and it was not a pleasure, for sure, but it wasn't bad at all compared to what I was expecting.
