I disagree. The 'boys' landed on this pose and stance for a reason. I mean its the recreation of her 1993 Christmas photo. The first official family photo of her after the monumental decision to separate from the Prince of Wales. The first photo without her husband as an adult and just her sons.

19 when married - 32 when separated. I think the sons are saying what she did and what she had to do - essentially stand on her own while a cheating husband stood with his mistress - was be strong. So this is the Diana post-separation with her children as her support but also her as a protector.

The fact that it has 'Diana, Princess of Wales' at the base while standing in the gardens of Kensington Palace also echoes old promises from William to Diana.

Whatever the reason you want to worship Diana, her romantic choices have been very questionable. I mean yes, Charles was wrong to cheat on her but they were just fundamentally wrong for each other. The only man who genuinely loved her declined to enter what he saw her life has become. Everyone else was either a hanger-on, married, or just good-for-nothing with nice toys daddy paid for.

Sure - they were wrong for each other. But Diana having married into that family at 19 and essentially embodied the role of Princess of Wales as she matured - had nowhere else to go and no other skills in life. She didn't want to leave Kensington Palace and I certainly don't think she thought Charles would replace his 'Queen Consort'.

Add the strife of separation in a marriage onto the fact that her current husband was basically not only the 'breadmaker' (all Duchy of Cornwall funds flow from him) but also he had total control of the household and their children - yes, I think 'being strong' is a good characterization.

The entire British establishment hated Diana in the 90s - either out of jealousy for overshadowing monarch+heir - or because they were 'siding' with a cheating future King.

She was a wonderful person with faults, but as we'll see in just 4 short years, Charles' revenge cost her everything. And her sons knew it.

Charles wanted to be with Camilla at all costs and let nothing stand in his way. Diana may have had her faults but she was collateral. No wonder her boy’s a head case now.

+1 to her being collateral damage. I can't imagine marrying at 19 much less marrying the 32 yo heir to the British throne. Wow.

I don't think they hated her as much as considered her dumb. God knows fidelity in marriage has never been a requirement in these circles and Diana knew that better than anyone. They probably expected them to come to a civilized arrangement where each was free to pursue their romantic interests but performed a public part when the right occasion required. This was very much the setup with the British aristocrats of her generation - there are so many examples, it's hard to find a normal family in these circles. And let's not forget that Diana started cheating on Charles too pretty early into the marriage.

I don't think Charles' revenge killed her. Her own bad choices killed her. It's a shame that she died so young. But she wasn't a victim.

History will draw great parallels between Diana and Meghan.

And I know by writing that out I rose the blood pressure of the keyboard warriors who no doubt are furiously typing away as soon as they finish reading this comment, but I think it's true. Obviously very different people and very different situations, but also some undeniable parallels. It'll make for an amazing season of The Crown one day... and I'm only half-joking.

I hate GBNews and Wo0tton but the shadeof referring to Camilla as the 'new wife' is just peak British LOL. That woman has been married in for 15 years.

Yep, agreed and I'm sure the k-warriors are going to be furious. I am curious as to what Meghan will be doing in the future. I thought 2021 would be the year to see a lot of her 'real' work start but obviously with a new baby - not happening.

So Meghan’s going to take a string of questionable lovers?

Only if there is a royal divorce. Until then, not so much.

Diana was not above using the press when it suited her.

Or sleeping with married men.

I mean it's pretty obvious. Both women resist the knowledge that their connection to the royal family is the most interesting thing about them.

I agree. It is not a surprise Harry was attracted to someone as dramatic and chaotic as his mother. Unfortunately, Meghan is also incapable of loving anyone other than herself.

If you want that type of marriage (no judgement) you don’t marry a 19 year old virgin.
