That's said, I will say that I have severely soured on Flaa since she posted the interview. I was fully on her side when she posted it and still think Lively's behavior was pretty abhorrent. But it's pretty obvious at this point that Flaa just rides a gravy train of attaching herself to controversial celebrity topics and then milking them. The "JusticeforJonny" thing is gross (Depp was an abuser, sorry) and Flaa is STILL milking the Lively thing, since she obviously figured out her rather minor involvement in it could become a source of income. But she's not a real journalist. I tried watching one of her videos and it's just influencer drivel. I never had a problem with her posting that video but I've lost respect for her now that I know more about her.

Her quality as a journalism is totally irrelevant except to point out that the criticism of Bl was organic and the NYT shit the bed when it ran this story

Exactly.

I don’t see the BL and NYT defenders as posting organically and without particular motives. I have not made that specific suggestion ever before in either the locked thread or this one. At this point, I have serious doubts. Anyway.

A few podcasts have the audio of Ari Emmanuel on Freakanomics; someone leaked it and it included the insults of Baldoni and some extra stuff that makes him sound like a vengeful T. Rex. Powerful and pissy and a dinosaur.

I don't really get why the Ari stuff matters. He's not a party to the lawsuit. No one has alleged he did anything wrong? It's no surprise that Lively and Reynolds have their defenders -- they've been in the business a long time. I just don't get why it matters.

DAMAGES

Could you expand? Again, Ari isn't being sued. He's allowed to have an opinion. How does this have anything to do with damages?

Damages in Baldonis claims against the Lively side, including the NYT. He was defamed by them and suffered harm, including but not limited to being dumped by his agency

But doesn't what Ari said actually negate that? Ari makes it sound like he barely knew who Baldoni was before all this, not like a valued client. It sounds like Ari would have taken Lively/Reynolds side regardless.

He dropped him bc of B and R. = Baldoni has damages

Do you really think Ari's talent agency dropped Justin on their own, without any influence from blake and ryan

I think WME kind of had to drop them after the PR texts came out that showed Baldoni and Heath directing a negative PR campaign against Lively. Even if this isn't ruled as retaliation, that's still not great from WME's perspective. Lively and Reynolds are very organized durable clients for them, and Baldoni/Wayfarer were trashing them online. It's not great.

Well, arguments like you’re making would be most relevant in the damages portion of a trial.. after Baldoni and his team have already won and a jury is deciding how much they’re owed

I think the only thing he did that was particularly problematic is call Blake and Ryan his ride or die. That’s not a great look, considering. Makes it seem like he’s not objective.

Who has said that it’s his job to be objective?

When discovery happens, no matter what happens with the MTD with the times, I would bet anything that communications and depos show that RR and/or BL campaigned to have Baldoni lose representation and that multiple parties directly witnessed RR at minimum pushing and calling JB a predator. I’m pretty sure there would be abundant evidence of calls and texts and other relevant material. JB is not suing AE. He’s suing the people that ruined him to AE, WME, Sony.

Everyone understood that 1st amendment and different fair reporting laws and other relevant productions made scoring a blow against NYT very very unlikely. Throwing up the lawsuit info site still worked - people largely have hunkered down and disbelieve that wannabe blockbuster next phase of me too story. They will lie but Twohey’s next story will be vetted properly. And BL and RR will be increasingly isolated as defendants. Hey, I’m sure that’s a big win and exactly what she wanted though!

She’s a journalist- it’s a rough job and getting to tougher to make a living. The 2016 interview with Blake was so bad it didn’t air at the time so Blake essentially wasted her time. She was also struggling with infertility so the “congrats on YOUR little bump” that Blake shot back hit her hard.

The woman was pissed, saw Blake was having a moment, and wanted to get clicks. I don’t see a problem with that. If you don’t want people to hold grudges and use them at opportune times, maybe be a little more professional and mature when you present yourself to a journalist as part of your job to promote your movie (which was a total flop anyway).

It’s unbelievable to me the times just included her without verifying that she was in fact part of the campaign. I’m not a lawyer but it really bothers me they can get away with that. It’s super sloppy.

Twobey is dancing in the ugly space between unprofessional and liar all through that piece. It’s disappointing and for me her career is diminished. Jane Meyer would never, Rebecca Traister, Roman Farrow, so many journalists who deal with sex and work and culture just would never ever put out that kind of piece.

Twobey and whoever vetted this were sloppy and now the litigators are trying to clean up the mess with fair report, choice of law, etc. It’s a black eye for sure

The Times helped drag us into the Iraq war. Didn’t they also run PR cover for Bill Gates after Epstein and his divorce. Publishing a hit piece for Blake, Ryan and Ari is just business as usual.
