So most people agree the middle school situation in DC is not ideal
Between all of the people on here I think we could start and maintain a new charter middle school Who's with me..... and yes I'm being serious |
| A charter middle school that has to accept any kids from any DC public school. My guess is that you don't have kids above 1st grade. |
That's great - you should join the DCPCSB start a charter listserv. https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/dc-charter-applicants Good luck. |

Can we call it "The Machiavelli Montessori Middle School for Misspent Monies?"
MMMSMM |
| (No, I am serious too. Not about the Machiavelli part.) |
| Look up "Haricorts Verts" on DCUM to see how that turned out. |
| Oh, I don't think we should offer elvish. Orcish is much more in keeping with Niccolo's original conceit. |

Well, if we say we really want to serve disadvantage children, that should get it through the PCSB.
We can use some high SES code words that don't mean anything, like "GMO free construction", "child focused curriculum", and "chef-driven menu". If anyone questions what we're doing, we can say "What? It's not exclusive! Poor kids should have non-GMO constructed facilities too, you know." Then we can locate it somewhere in gentrification central but far from transit to make it a little harder for low SES people to get to. If anyone questions that, we can just blame it on DCPS and Kaya Henderson not giving us a facility for free on top of a metro station. |
It was actually a reference to a television show in which a main character is involved in creating a charter school. The villain who tries to take over uses this school "model" to try and convince everyone to vote for her to be the new leader. A joke for the 10 people that watched the show Togetherness on HBO. |

You have not seen the mythos created over the years about HRCS.
Now that we are about to elect HRC, it is probably time to actually establish HRCS. |
Try this at a fundraiser for my charter school and I'll push you in the pool. |
