My Dad accidentally left town with DH's favorite sportcoat...

and then proceeded to wear it on business trips across the country (he was visiting us en route to a bunch of meetings and left his sportcoat -- which is the same color-- in our house). He is at least 75 pounds heavier than DH although they are the same height. I feel like this was wrong of my father to do and basically yelled at him about it. His response --- what did you want me to do? I didn't have mine.

Why didn't you Fed Ex him his jacket?

I can't imagine yelling at my parents for anything.

Why don't you proceed to a civilized exchange of coats via one of our excellent postal carriers?

He made a mistake and made do. He should apologize for the mistake.

You were out of line for yelling at him.

Wow, yelling at him over a sport coat? If it means that much to you, ship him his coat and pay for shipping yours.

OP here: ok thanks for the replies, I get it and will apologize. My dad didn't realize the mistake until he was walking out the door of a hotel in another city for a meeting and then wasn't sure where he left his coat in our house so it took me a while to find his coat.

I also had a sick newborn and a sick toddler at home so doing so wasn't at the top of my priority list.

Why do you care if he wore your husband's jacket? Are you afraid he was going to do a Chris Farley split? Are you afraid he'd stink it up? I don't understand why you give a care.

I agree with your dad. What did you want him to do? Also why would you yell at your father? Also why didn't you send him his sportcoat?

I feel sorry for OPs dad. Also I kept thinking this as I read her post:

I am glad you are going to apologize to your father.

Why do these men have only one coat?

Nobody said that. Dad was traveling and only had the one with him. It's DH's favorite. I assume that both have other coats.

That makes lots of things more frustrating than they should be. Hang in there, OP. I am sure your Dad understands.

Your dad sounds weird. Why didn't he call and tell you "hey, I accidentally took DHs coat."
