| It's never been called a "man's card" in US History when all of the men have run (including a black man). So why now, is it just called a "woman's card" when Hillary is running |
| Because men hold the rest of the deck. |
| Are you looking for something to be offended by? |
| Because Trump very cleverly appeals to white men's sense of grievance and resentment. He does it with race and he does it with gender. |
|
I think the objection is to the "you should vote for politician X specifically because she is a woman" type of reasoning. Honestly I am pretty conservative about these things but am not bothered by the "woman card," at least in the political arena. I am bothered by all the man-bashing posts above and I am certain below me. Some people (men, women) love to dish out but if you ever respond boy do the pearls get clutched. |
Trump specifically said Clinton would not get even 5% of the vote of she were male. That's sexist, unless you believe being a Senator and Secretary of State don't qualify a person to hold higher office. Trump also said women have it better than men generally. That's "the woman card," according to him. Never having had a female president, knowing exactly one woman was chosen to lead a Fortune 500 company last year, many women see this a little differently. |
|
When did anyone man-bash? It's true that men have historically held all the higher offices and highest paying jobs in this country. Most qualified? You had to BE a man to qualify at all!
Now we have a woman running who is AT LEAST as qualified and experienced and people who are excited about voting for her are disparaged as man-bashers who want to play the woman card. |
|
well Trump brought up the woman card, not Hilary. She just went with it.
When the office has been held by men for over 200 years and a woman has a chance to finally win it, it's a big deal. It is in no way bashing men to acknowledge the fact that no woman before Hilary had a real chance of winning. I get really annoyed with white men who bitch about BET or anything that doesn't invite them to participate. Get over your soap box! What has been given to you as a birth right but others had to earn through tears and sweat will always be celebrated by me. Signed, A white woman. |
Please identify the man bashing you claim. |
It’s never been called a “man card” because the men who have run have not run on their gender. Hillary has repeatedly said that it’s time to have a woman in the WH. That is playing the woman card. If she isn’t trying to play the woman card, she should run on her experience and leave her gender out of it. |
|
Pulling the card does not mean running for office -- it means she is using the fact that she is a woman to her advantage (a card you keep in your back pocket and pull out when you need it). FYI.
I am an HC supporter; just clarifying what the phrase means.... |
| What the hell is wrong with saying it's about time we had a woman get the job? Men would go ballistic if women ran the country for 220+ years and then told them to shut up about gender. |
That's hilarious. Trump is definitely running on his gender by trying to pretend that an eminently qualified woman is unqualified because she dares admit to being a woman. Also, he freaking talks about his penis during debates. Yeah, he's definitely playing the man card. |
|
Oh God.
You assholes tried to pull this on President Obama. The videos still live online. You shot your wad then. |
Well, she's doing both. She has the experience to be the next president, AND it's about time we had a woman president. |
