| Per the Southern Women thread, what are some "Southern Belle" beauty and style tips this northerner can use to feel and look more feminine? I LOVE how colorfully they dress. What brands can I look for? How do I incorporate that for DC? I am early 30s slender female. |
| Lily Pulitzer, J Crew, Vineyard Vines, Tory Burch, DVF, Tibi, Milly should all get the job done. You can pair the dresses with cardigans and Stuart Weitzman basic wedges for work in the summer. For hair, think traditional feminine and not trendy - you can curl it, dye it, wear it full. Blush and mascara are musts, get your brows done, and get a tan - use tan towels. Clothes can be super basic but well fitting and basics mixed with prints and colors. Check out Southern Curls and Pearls. |
| As for hair--the higher the hair, the closer to God. |
| In Georgia the college students all wear huge t-shirts that go past their running shorts with ugly hiking sandals . It's hideous . They dress up in short dresses and stripper heels on the weekends . |
ITA, and would also add that lipstick is a must as well. |
so pretty!

| I look for inspiration on Pinterest. If you search something like "southern preppy style" you'll get some ideas. It's not so much about the brands, but the styling. |
| Dear lord, did someone on DCUM just discover reruns of designing women and have an epiphany or something? I'm born and bred southern, transplanted to DC, and I think this thread is ridiculous. |
No |
You need to be kinder. WHAT WOULD JESUS DO IF HE WERE FEMALE?! Or something. Just because shoulder pads and teased hair come naturally to you don't mean they come naturally to others. Have some compassion. |
| The irony is that Lily is a northern style. |
Nope. Originally sold in FL. |
| You can't fake Southern Girl. |
I think this is really cute |
