For those of you enrolled in one of the DCPS/charter Montessori schools, what are the plans/options for Middle School?

oneness, cmi lottery, maybe latin lottery, maybe its and 2r lottery, maybe chlm, waldorf, and, if it exists, future Montessori middle. I feel like we have options.

Other than CHM @ L there are no other public Montessori middle schools in DC.

Once you reach 6th grade your options are any other public or public charter school in the city.

Sounds like there is only one option.

My Montessori kids both moved on to regular public middle schools when they got that age.

The educational landscape in this city has changed dramatically in the last 5 years. CMI, ITS, MV and others didn't exist. I can imagine that it'll look different 5 years from now when our three year olds are only in 2nd grade.

It might, but some of us have kids who are already in second grade, or above.

Of course the landscape may change, but as of now, there is only one public Montessori middle school in the city.

I hope that within a year we'll have a timeline on the charter Montessori middle that combines lee, ss, and breakthough and maybe chlm (or a decision not to pursue it).

i also an advocate for Lee, SSMA, Breakthrough and maybe LAMB (they can also be a feeder should they so choose) to form a middle school and high school. Does anyone have any information on whether or not that is in the works? I've read that Lee is look at 0-3 and via the grapevine that SSMA is planning to request the addition of 7-8. Any of this true?

LAMB would have to drastically amend its charter since they are already tied to DCI for middle school. There is only one precedent (DCI) for multiple LEAs feeding a middle school now and it was a hard and heavy lift at the DCPCSB.

There may be discussions but nothing concrete has been put forward to indicate this is happening. It's not like SSMA and Lee haven't had to update their charters - the vehicle by which this would need to happen - they both recently did to get approval to move forward to their permanent locations. Both stayed silent on expansion to new grades, much less trying to create a new destination / feeder path.
