I'm looking forward to the Obamas leaving office and speaking much more candidly about the state of race relations in the US. He really does demonstrate a remarkably nuanced view, which I feel he often had to suppress as POTUS. He and Michelle are still quite young, and I anticipate that January 2017 will not be the end of their public leadership. |
| OK remarks. Very few people are paying attention to what he says at this point now, I imagine. Same goes for any president at the end of his second term. |
| Large Financial corporation that i work at will hire hundreds of H1Bs this year but will never interview a single Howard computer science graduate What a culture we live in |
| He is preaching to the choir and what they want to hear. He does not get it. President Clinton did get it. |
|
I am watching a clip of the speech on MSNBC now.
Why do Democrat politicians speak like Baptist preachers to black audiences? |
And why does Republican Trump speak like a roaring lion throwing raw meat to white audiences? Don't give it if you can't take it. |
Well, in all fairness, Trump doesn't really speak. One would need to make sense for that to happen |
+1, Lol! |
Not sure how you make the leap between your workplace's attitude and the rest of society. Why do you think your employer acts that way? |
| Hidden within the text was a flimsy call to students not to shut down campus speakers with whom they disagree. Better than nothing, I guess. |
Exactly. He's done NOTHING to help poor black CITIZENS. Nor did he ever plan to. |
| "Embrace your blackness?" Ha! Sort of like he does....??? |
Probably because they can get much better candidates cheaper through an H1B. |
How much shit would have hit the fan had Bush spoken at Liberty U and told the crowd there to "Embrace their whiteness"? |
Cheaper is the key word. Not better. |
