PIT BULLS - not so nice

My daughter has a friend who has a mix- I have gone by for a few things and the mom has stepped in front of their house saying their dog is to wound up (I can see the dog chewing at the window etc). My issues is my innocent daughter whole loves dogs has no concept of fear or what can happen. The dogs have been vicious every time I have seen them. Also they had a dog and returned them since it bit their son.

My next door neighbor has a vicious cat that attacks men and children. I do not allow my child into their house.

Why is your thread labeled "Pitbulls- not so nice"? Would it matter if it were a beagle? Lab? Shepherd? Poodle? What kind of parent allows her child to play in a home with a dangerous dog?

Certain breeds are more high energy and some have jaws built to hang on and crush tissue and bone.
It is not the same thing as saying that certain breeds are inherently vicious.
No breed is inherently vicious.
You need to stay away from aggressive people and other animals.

We have a neighbor friend who wants to get a pit bull. If they do, my daughter will not go their home again. And I have no problem telling them that. My brother's next door neighbor's daughter was hospitalized after being attacked by a neighbor's pit bull, and my husband's best friend's wife was bitten in the leg and got stitches when she was attacked on an evening walk and a couple was walking their pit bull. Not risking it.

Not all pit bulls attack, but most of the attacks in the US requiring hospitalization are by pit bulls.

We also have a friend who has a pit bull. Everytime we are invited over we decline because I just don't trust those dogs.

We have friends who adopted a "lab mix" from a rescue organization. Turned out to be a pit bull mix and I dread going to their house because of him.

We have a lot of pit bull and pit bull mixes in our neighborhood.

I don't think they are cute or nice looking dogs. They are almost always lunging and dragging their owner along. As a breed, I think they have traits of being strong and aggressive.

I realize that even more important than asking my child's friends if they have a gun at home, I need to ask them if they have a dog and what kind. I have heard far too many stories of children getting bit by dogs they know. And pits kill.
