You're really more afraid of a teacup poodle or a yorkiepoo than a pit bull? Huh. I guess if I could kick a tiny nipping dog away, I'm not going to be terribly frightened of it (agree, terribly annoyed at a poorly trained canine). But a lunging pit bull, bred for hundreds of years for strength? Yes, I will be afraid of that dog. With good reason. |
Agree. I can feel myself tensing up while looking at that picture. Beyond scary. |
|
guys, the dog in that picture is literally doing nothing wrong. if you are terrified and tensing up, then you do not know dogs.
basing your fear on what that dog looks like, and nothing more, is called being prejudiced. |
Okay then I am prejudiced against pitbulls because that thing is nightmare inducing and I'd rather not have my face gnawed off by it. Here is one "smiling" - still scary.

Pit bulls and rottweilers are a big share of the problem.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10997153 I've also noted that many owners do not understand the fact that their dog might not behave as well around strangers as they do around family, and they seem to have a much greater tolerance for aggressive behavior than I would. . |
You're the one who is out of touch, sweetie, placing an unpredictable beast ahead of a human being on your priority list. Shameful. |
scary to you, i guess? that dog is just sitting there, looking calm. you're going to have a hard time in the world if you get all exercised like this over nothing. |
| They are just really ugly dogs. I don't think anyone would choose them over a lab if both were rescues. Why are we still breeding pit bulls?! Humans are to blame for this breed. |
| I was bitten by a hamster as a kid, I wont let my kid play at houses with hamsters now....Never been bitten by a dog so she can go wherever she likes if theres a dog there. |

The designation of pit bulls being violent is only recent. Pit bulls used to be known as family dogs and babysitters b/c they were so loyal, smart, trainable, and devoted. Petey the dog in "Little Rascals" was a pit bull; so was the original Sony logo of the dog who hears his masters voice over the record player.
This dog trainer explains about pit bulls: http://poochcoach.com/pits-bulls-bad-rap/ |
Are you serious? I think you'll find the majority of people out there find pitbulls to be unnerving and scary. Do you see that big thick barbed collar around its neck? That is because they are beastly animals that are hard to control and if they become out of control the results can be deadly. Just because the PP has the sense to recognize that does not mean s/he is "going to have a hard time in the world". You on the other hand have a screwed view of the world and some strange priorities if you think a person fearing a deadly animal that has a record of mauling babies and children is in the wrong. |
that pinch collar resting loosely around the dog's neck, you mean? i think you will find the vast majority of people don't agree with you. which is why you are the only person who keeps pursuing this issue here. |
See many teacup poodles or golden retrievers wearing a collar like that? Prong collars are inhumane but necessary to keep a dog with that kind of power under control. Pitbulls snap in an instant. They go from calm to killer. Like the the one who killed the days old infant on a bed over a sneeze. Also if you think I'm the only poster in this thread with a fear/dislike of pitbulls you are mistaken. |
Yes, there are many of us posting here. |
Sure thing. That is why pitbulls are banned in several US counties and various countries. That is why there were 28 deaths last year by pitbulls. The breed with the second highest death count was rottweilers and the number was three. That is why shelters are overrun with aggressive pitbulls that their owners could no longer handle. That is all because "one" poster on here finds these dear sweet looking happy calm relaxed misunderstood dog to be scary looking.
