How was MV gala tonight?

I missed it. How was it?

Home run! I'm biased because I was one of the volunteers/organizers, but I thought it was awesome. It ended too soon as far as I'm concerned.
Great turnout (over 450 people), cool space, (MLK Library), a really impressive line up of food and drink (nice having MV parents in the restaurant business) and fun music (my contribution). Best of all we raised a LOT of money for the school. Not sure how we're going to top it next year.

How much money did this event net?

I was impressed how many people volunteered and contributed to this event making it a really fun and successful evening. Kudos to all of the organizers. Lots of cool auction items - Some of the most popular items were events/experiences offered by teachers - such as a tour of the Natural History Museum for 4 kids, or a trip to a National's game for 2 kids with a teacher. Very creative ideas and a fun night!

Wow. I'd be super psyched if our school's gala raised a third of this amount. Kudos to the MV parent community!

How in the world is that type of money raised? That requires 300+ parents showing up and spending on average $200.

Charging poor teachers to attend for one

That's pretty typical for a larger school that isn't Title 1.

They got quite a few corporate sponsorships. Teachers weren't charged!

MV has more than 500 kids this year - lots of growth = more families to give.

Guessing I'd know by now if my number was drawn (I bought a raffle ticket for the bike but was out of town--am not a parent at the school) but on the off chance, is the winning raffle number posted someplace? Thank you!
