It is quite shocking to me that he was allowed to keep his position as Assistant Mayor. He apparently also wears black panther regalia, etc. I wouldn't be all surprised if he didn't help support the counter protest which eventually led to the death of three innocent people.

I of course condemn the acts of the driver who ploughed his car into innocent people. But people like Wes Bellamy have a way of setting the stage....

The Confederacy was never a part of the United States of America. Confederate statues should not be on public land and taxes should not be used to maintain them.

It was part of virginia's history though since they fought for virginia and what they believed in at that time.

Actually, you aren't condemning him, you are excusing him -- you just stated that other people were responsible for the murder that he committed. PP, you are apologizing for the KKK and for nazis. You are a terrorist sympathizer and you should take responsibility for your point of view.

So what? Why do taxpayer dollars have to go to maintaining a statue celebrating insurrection? Lots of awful things are part of our history and we don't erect monuments honoring them. People used to believe a lot of horrible ideas that we don't erect monuments to honoring.
