This is a recurring pattern we’ve seen many times in MCPS. Here’s the problem. MCPS needs to actually Do something when bullying is reported.

MCPS doesn’t care. I know our principal and ap will not respond to calls or emails when you are concerned. Our ap works had to block any help in meetings along with the nasty psychologist.

Call out the school. There are 211 schools, ES, MS, HS ??

Is t their cameras throughout the school? With that many kids, that seems very unsafe to not have some type of security system in place that includes cameras in the hallways. How many security guards does the school have? Are they just at a desk or walking the halls? Curious if they have a presence in the building as normally the kids know them and feel
Comfortable going to them.

Yes there are LOTS of cameras however I would venture to guess they are not monitored in real time 24/7

They’re looking at AI to monitor those cameras and detect weapons. Those systems are unreliable and can lead to false positives, further traumatizing kids. There was a situation last year in Baltimore where such system flagged a bag of chips as a gun and the kid ended up in handcuffs at gun point.

My HS is piloting a new AI program that will scan hallway and stairwell chokepoints and determine if there is an unusual high level of activity and then make alerts based on that.

Yes not sure what the hell they are trying to pilot.

Security guards LOL

The one officer assigned to the school was MIA.

They said they were at Lakewood Elementary they were not. They lied.

Security cameras no.

As for security guards, yes schools have them and yes they should be maintaining a regular presence in hallways. They have the hardest job in the entire school as they are instructed to maintain positive relationships with students to hopefully foster those trusting relationships. When security guards actually enforce rules, kids start hating them and complaining about them and that goodwill is all destroyed.

SROs and CEO are not security. Wootton likely has 7-10 ACTUAL security guards in that building.

The Lakewood principal is on record saying he was not. Ask any Lakewood parent. Our principal has told us many times, CEO was not at Lakewood. Staff are also saying they never saw the CEO at Lakewood.
Why is the media not asking this question?

Where is Lakewood principal on the record saying this??

Every Lakewood parent was notified via parent square this morning around 11 AM that no incident at Lakewood took place on Monday. The CEO was not there. Not was he ever called by our principal. No staff member at Lakewood saw him either.
I have kids at both Lakewood as Wootton and I am beyond upset. I can’t even begin to explain how angry I am there is NO consistency on where the most important person was.

Share the Parent Square message with any local media station. People need to know if MCPS is lying. Taxpayers need to know how the CEO program is or isn’t working.

If the Lakewood principal and staff all say he was not, this is a huge accountability issue.

What in the world is going on?

This is why SRO's do not work.

None of these types of people are effective.

This guy was most likely at Falls Grove getting food or somewhere else off campus running errands or doing something else instead of his job.

Yeah....IF he indeed was not at Lakewood Elementary, the police are definitely covering up for this guy relaxing while on the job.

Umm so how does that work when the hallways are crammed with back to back students between classes?

we will never know.

SROs can build relationships with troubled kids. Who knows what could've been if there was a strong SRO in the school.

This is very interesting.

Very concerning why both of these kids were moved by MCPS to Wootton out of their home districts.
