Now you know what democrats are afraid of.

Why are blue states so inept?

People like you who pretend to know what they are talking about . . . look it up. "In anticipation of the promulgation of the Twenty-fourth Amendment abolishing the poll tax as a requirement for voting in federal elections, Virginia eliminated the poll tax as an absolute prerequisite to voting in federal elections and in its stead substituted a provision whereby the federal voter could qualify either by paying the customary poll tax or by filing a certificate of residence six months before the election. The certificate of residence requirement is a material requirement imposed upon those who refuse to surrender their constitutional right to vote in federal elections without paying a poll tax and thus constitutes an abridgment of the right to vote in violation of the Twenty-fourth Amendment." Just filing a certificate of residency was considered a significant enough hoop that it constituted an impermissible poll tax. No fee. Not big deal. Except it was unconstitutional. HARMAN v. FORSSENIUS 380 U.S. 528 (1965) PS - That "U.S." in the citation means it was the United States Supreme Court. Look it up. |
No, stupid, you are. Back in the day the requirements that all documents match was very lax. If you told the DMV you go by Daisy or some other nickname they'd put it on your driver's license and then that would go on your passport or social security card, or if it didn't, no one cared. But let's stop pretending you care about any of this. |
Are there exceptions in those countries? Do they have the equivalent of the 24th Amendment? Do they also require some form of National ID which is provided for free? |
If filing a certificate of residence is a poll tax, then the SAVE Act is clearly a poll tax. |
This isn’t about voter ID. Not sure how many more times this needs to be explained to you. |
This thread is TLDR, so I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but I just want to throw out there that I live in MN, one of the states that doesn't require an ID. The requirements to vote are either a valid ID, or an expired ID [/b]along with a SSN[/b]. You also must bring a utility bill or lease to show that you live in MN. So it's not like ANYONE can just roll up and vote with no verification. |
The governments provicde the ID's for free. That is the part the MAGAs are omitting here. The GOP refuses the same, which is what the democrats are fighting against. |
So what? |
This is the same in wisconsin....you can't just vote without providing proof of residency in the form of a utilility bill or lease and an ID that matches the name on the bill or lease. |

According to the very right wing Heritage Foundation, there were only 24 instances of non-citizens voting in all elections between 2003 and 2023. This is out of hundreds of millions of ballots cast.
Voter ID proposals are a "solution" looking for a problem that doesn't exist. What is very clear is that Republicans are trying to use Voter ID laws to disenfranchise millions of US citizens from voting. The greatest threat to American democracy is not immigrants. It is the Republican Party. |
| This is so a solution looking for a problem. How about spending some time on solution for a real problem. |
Non citizens are given driver’s licenses and can bring a utility bill |
Please show where non-citizens are voting. See the Heritage Foundation report and the Cato Institute reports (hardly liberal institutions) that show this to be a miniscule problem. In fact, I would ask, if there is so much illegal voting taking place, then how did the GOP win the House, senate and white House in 2024? Why was this an issue for the 2020 election when Trump was president, but not an issue in 2016 or 2024 when Trump won? |
