This one sucked, but there have been some really good ones going way back lol. Michael Jackson and Prince who really had talent. Lady Gaga was very good, but she can sing and act!

Gaga had the best performance yesterday (even though she wasn't doing halftime) and it wasn't even close.

Masterclass choreography. The entire set told a story.

Why is it only white people that you care about having included in the performance? This country has other races. Really think about that pp. I know you have been conditioned to think of only black and white people but there are SO many more people that belong to other races in this country besides those two races. Also ask yourself if you would be bothered or asking the same question had the show been all white? I am not coming down on you, just want to give you some food for thought.

DP.

Why is it diversity only works one way?

Do you seriously believe if the halftime show had been as large, but all-white instead of all-BIPOC, there would not have been demands for DIVERSITY ?

Where is your DEI now, PP ?

I don’t follow.

This poster wanted white acts and backup dancers. Strange - does DEi bring us more talent or force us to hire subpar folks? This poster likely thinks b so I don’t know why he wants subpar acts/dancers at the Super Bowl.

It's not a white or black issue. The issue is having a good show which once again they failed to produce.

I honestly wonder if the budgets have been cut back on the shows. I liked the performance, but we aren’t seeing massive spectacles with intense sets any more like the Katy Perry or the Lady Gaga show. The artists don’t get paid but the NFL pays for the production.

Katy Perry was horrible, the only good thing about her performance was when she brought out Missy Elliott. As for Lady Gaga, there is a Netflix documentary about her preparations for her show and in it it’s disclosed that Lady Gaga actually brought her own money into the production because she didn’t think the NFL budget gave her enough for what she wanted to do. So hers was a combination of NFL money and her own money.

True, still she was better than the Lamar fiasco.

It’s hard to carry that venue. The fact you are referring to performance that was 30 and 18 years ago highlights that.

+1 who is around now that has the star power, body of music, and performance ability that matches Prince and Michael Jackson? They are incredibly difficult to top and they can’t drag out Beyoncé every year.

There are not that many performers that do great stadium venue shows out there, and many have refused, especially since the NFL puts really strict restrictions on what they can/can't do. For example, P!ink does great stadium venue shows/productions with tons of aerials/stunts/etc., but I believe she turned down the Super Bowl already.

Adele turned it down too, saying the SB wasn't really a fit for her style (which is true).

I wish he would have made the men in blue wear white durags to represent the stars

The symbolism was more than the flag…

Im aware of that but not sure how that precludes them from wearing white durags...

To satisfy just you? Ok. GTF over yourself.

You can gtfo yourself offering nothing to the discourse but a tweet that you probably don't even understand since you can't explain it.

Because they aren’t wearing white durags to satisfy your desire to see stars? LOL. You’re just nuts. Good luck to you, I guess.

That's interesting to know because we wondered why it was lacking. This is from Daily Mail of all places, but it's being widely criticized across the board.

Nope, that wouldn't have helped. Should have scrapped the entire production, truly bad.

That wouldn't have saved that bad performance.

No those were saved for Taylor. DT is well liked, why he also won the popular vote. Nice try.

Watching tom brady swaying along to gaga singing and getting into the music was a highlight.

Anonymous wrote:They really need to stop it with the rap and hip hop artists. They just do not appeal to a mass audience, and I don't think they are young kid friendly, when the super bowl should be a family friendly event. I don't want my 5 year old watching something so intertwined with rape and violence, and I don't need to listen to some guy's petty personal feud with another rapper and calling out pedophilia. Why is it so hard to understand that none of this is appealing? People just want to be entertained and by happy for that one night.

My 70 old parents don't watch much football and don't know anything about modern music but they thoroughly enjoyed Lady Gaga's halftime show a few years back. Ever since then, their reactions are pretty much wtf am I watching. And no, they are not white.

Did they find the commercials with bad words appealing? I was not happy to hear cursing during the ads. I didn’t expect it so I couldn’t mute it in time so my kids heard the words

The rap? Unless you know the words how would you have been able to follow? I didn’t hear any bad words for that performance. I had already sent my kids to bed anyway but I didn’t hear any bad words in the rapper’s performance …but I did hear cursing on the commercials while my kids were watching…I wish people were more upset about that then a rapper reciting words that they
couldn’t understand. The outrage is interesting and backwards in my opinion.

Love the way Kendrick’s music usually includes the “N” word. Great message for my kids; just great.

Really irrelevant he scrubbed the Superbowl show of the “N” word last night because every tween and teen in America is looking up his N-word songs on YouTube this morning.

Again - great message, NFL.

And everyone is tired of all that, they simply want to watch a football game without the politics. Plus have a decent halftime.

Kendrick Lamar is a great artist but his performance was very depressing. He should have started off with his big hits that have strong lyrics AND beats. Everything he did was slow beats or just rapping, which was not hitting it. No crowd hype except for "MINOR." Serena Williams came out but again, most people were over him by the time she made a hippity hop appearance. DJ Mustard just pranced around.

I felt very bad for Taylor Swift and so happy she took it like a champ while looking good doing it too.
