It’s going to be a long 4 years for people like you. |
Mr. President, I come to the floor today to enter the debate on comprehensive immigration reform. It is a debate that will touch on the basic questions of morality, the law, and what it means to be an American.
I know that this debate evokes strong passions on all sides. The recent peaceful but passionate protests that we saw all across the country--500,000 in Los Angeles and 100,000 in my hometown of Chicago--are a testament to this fact, as are the concerns of millions of Americans about the security of our borders. But I believe we can work together to pass immigration reform in a way that unites the people in this country, not in a way that divides us by playing on our worst instincts and fears. When Congress last addressed this issue comprehensively in 1986, there were approximately 4 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. That number had grown substantially when Congress again addressed the issue in 1996. Today, it is estimated that there are more than 11 million undocumented aliens living in our country. The American people are a welcoming and generous people. But those who enter our country illegally, and those who employ them, disrespect the rule of law. And because we live in an age where terrorists are challenging our borders, we simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, and unchecked. Americans are right to demand better border security and better enforcement of the immigration laws. -April 3, 2006, President Barack Obama speech on the Senate floor |
Once again, Democrats are fine with a secure border, but it's also a humanitarian issue and Congress needs to act. This is a much larger problem than just the president.
Compass the one who tamed the border belt which is at least to step in the right direction |
food prices will go up, they work for cheaper than Americans. friends I know never singed up to served in the Armed Forces to Depot their neighbors, family, friends, other service members etc. You don't anything about how much they being in to the GDP etc. They are not on welfare and they worked 1 or 2 or even 3 jobs. |
For all of us. |
The NBC article, which you use as a source, says that 13k are cumulative over the past 4 decades. That means that most of them were already here during Trump's first term. Why didn't Trump deport them then? He likely didn't really care and is riling you up for your votes and to stay out of prison himself. Also note that the article says that the 13k are not specifically in ICE detection and they could be in prison elsewhere. Also FAIRUS is a hate group so I'd take their words with a grain of salt. |
Great. Then you agree: - enforce the borders, turn away illegals - stop citizenship by birth - deport illegal alien criminals and fraudsters, and their children/ families - tax remittances - bolster worker visa programs - require e-verify - fine employers, deport illegals trying to work - clear phony asylum book, deport all asylum country shoppers (if you traipsed through 1+ other country, you are a fraud) |
All of this sounds fine but why tax remittances? Are you assuming any money remitted was earned by illegal immigrants and therefore never taxed? |
You tax remittances to decrease the benefit of being in the US. Trump can do it on Day 1 and should. There should be no rewards for illegally entering the US. Also, we don't need worker visa programs--those get abused. |
Another Great add PP: link your personal or household IRS reported income with your personal or household remittances. AI fraud software will do the rest. Pay your remittance tax then. |
Not even seasonal agricultural worker visa programs? |
All do this sounds more than fine. Do it yesterday. |
For anyone who thinks a convicted felon is not qualified for POTUS. Although, even without the conviction he’s not qualified. He completely choked on responding to the pandemic and incited an insurrection |
Those are slave labor programs. Government sanctioned, so it's fine. |
