lax culture from an insider

I'm sure there are SOME high character kids at Landon. You anti-landon people are ridiculous expecting schools to blackball everyone who goes there. On the other hand, I don't think it's a bad idea to dig a little deeper into a Landon kid's background. Are these schools doing that? Of course not - they're giving them verbal offers as 15 year olds.

Cornell takes mostly public school kids from NY state or at least the Northeast region. They're not really a Landon kind of school.

Looks like one of Landon's nine D-1 players is headed to Cornell.

Three Landon boys going to Ivy League schools? I'm surprised. Even more surprised that Virginia is still recruiting from Landon.

But, on the other hand, it's kind of nice when a Landon boy helps you win a National Championship with three goals and two assists. Well done Josh Offutt.

He is an Academic All American too - imagine that.

That is a pretty ignorant post. Why don't you take the time to look at the number of Landon alums listed on Princeton lacrosse roster. They are sending another kid to Princeton this year. They have more kids on Princeton than any school in the country I believe. Have you looked at Cornell's roster?

As for UVA, Yes I get the George Hugely joke, but out of Landon's graduating class of 83 boys, 4 are going to UVA. 1 happens to be recruited lacrosse player.

In Landon's current junior class, they have 2 student athletes who have both made verbal commitments to UVA.

You can take cracks all you want about the school or the lacrosse program but the school continues to pump kids into great academic schools (both lacrosse players and non lacrosse players)

The young man was a three sport athlete at STA and he was just charged with a gun violation. No evidence that he intended to harm anyone.

BB gun

The TWO boys drove to school and parked the car for the day. A non-lethal "BB gun" rifle replica was left in the back seat. One boy went to class while the other boy went into the woods. Having never shot a gun. he tried it, put the gun back in the car and went to class. A mom saw the "shooter" in the woods with a 'sniper rifle', and made a 911 call the police. NCS, Sidwell and St. Albans were locked down within minutes. The BB gun was found in the back seat of the car and the car was traced to the boys. The boys were taken out of class in cuffs and the incident was widely reported with dramatic video on the web.

STA acted quickly. The boys were barred from school for the remaining few weeks of the year (the lacrosse season had already ended) but allowed to graduate. Both boys faced DC gun charges. If anything, STA's quick action was deemed too harsh.

Too harsh? Missing the last few weeks of school? typical STA community protectiveness. "But our poor boys...blah blah blah." They were morons for doing what they did. If it was public school they would have been expelled.

If it was a public school, they would have been expelled for biting their peanut butter sandwich into the shape of a gun.

STA has learned that it is best to take swift harsh action. Years ago when the Vice Preident's son was caught smoking marijuana with several friends in the Bishop's Garden of the National Cathedral, the friends were expelled from St. Alban's School but young AGIII was allowed to stay. The Vice President switched AGIII to Sidwell Friends after being angered by teachers who made it clear they did not approve of the double standard involved.

For obvious reasons, sensitivity to gun violence has increased in the past few years.
