7 year-old with underwear problems

Anonymous
So my DD has always been a little sensitive to certain textures, sensations but for the most part, she can wear regular clothes without complaining of itchiness, etc. The problem we have had for the past few years is that she hates the way underwear feel. The only ones she will wear at the moment are a size too small and a bit tight on her. I'm pretty sure it's a seam issue but I have spent so much money on various brands only to find she hates wearing them.

She seems to like bikini style (no boy shorts or high rise). I recently bought some basic nautica brand from tj maxx. They look like they fit perfectly but she cried herself to sleep tonight and claims she hates the way they feel.

It seems the seamless kind are not made of cotton. Any recommendations or insight? Once I find the perfect brand, I'll buy a dozen in every size.

She cried herself to sleep about underwear? Was she wearing them at the time?

I hate underwear too OP. Basically the minute I get home, I take off my pants and underwear and put loose pajama bottoms on. I don't have any suggestions, but I feel for your DD-- it's tough to feel like your vulva can't breathe all the time. I'm glad my DD has not inherited this ridiculous trait of mine.

Hannah Anderson's clothes are among the softest I've seen -- maybe that would work?

My DD is also funny about underwear. She will wear fruit of the loom with bands instead of elastic. The boy shorts have seams but the bikini ones don't. I get them at Walmart or Target.

OP here. I don't get this. It's a tiresome issue that's been going on for years. I posted to get some advice.

Yes she was. It's hard to know if she's being dramatic so we have generally been firm about requiring her to get used to a new pair. But then I feel guilty for making her wear something she clearly is uncomfortable wearing. Even though they look like they fit perfectly!

She doesn't have to wear underwear to bed! Problem solved--at least for one part of the day...

I agree and showed her some styles kine before actually investing in them. She said she didn't like how low the leg holes were and high the waistband went. Maybe if I buy her a pair she may change her mind.

OP here. I'll try them. Thanks!

This would definitely make things simpler at bedtime. Will try it.

Can you get her the ones she likes in a bigger size?

It would never occur to me to wear underwear to bed or have kids wear underwear to bed!

Maybe. The ones she likes have seams so often it is where the seam is positioned that bugs her. With a bigger size this may be an issue. Will try it.
