Homeschooling forum

Any chance you'll consider a homeschooling forum, Jeff?

Sorry, but it is not likely at this point. I would bet that there are more threads in Website Feedback asking for a Home Schooling forum then there are posts about home schooling in the School and Education General Discussion forum. I just don't sense the interest in such a forum beyond those that frequently ask about it here.

OK, no problem. I'm just dipping my toe in so I'd be interested in reading about it. Thanks anyway.

What about creating a sticky with links to previous homeschooling threads?

What about homeschoolers take their freakshow elsewhere?

Some of that might be because the education forum here isn't really a great place to ask about homeschooling, because you get a lot of very defensive posters whose kids go to school. A homeschooling specific forum might stay more on topic, and might attract people who otherwise don't come to DCUM.

I'd love to have a local homeschooling forum. All I can find are mailing lists, which I find much more cumbersome.

In our case we are trying to avoid mean spirited a******* just like the PP above. Hence we are considering home schooling.

I would love to have a homeschooling or alternative schooling forum. I agree that these types
of discussions are not generally welcome on the available forums.

People are awful, cruel and stupid towards homeschoolers.
I would never want to post something about homeschooling on a mostly unmoderated forum.
You can try your anonymous forum somewhere else - that would be a great idea - but it would need to be moderated fully (as in every message read before its posted and inappropriate ones deleted) .
Someone start one...

I would like it also.

I was the one who suggested the sticky. There are several helpful threads on homeschool in the general education forum that have only helpful comments.

This is a common reaction to anti-social behavior, yes.

I would also be interested in one.

The anti-homeschooling people are going to provoke me into creating a homeschooling forum.
