| For business. Outgoing kid from FCPS school. Cost is within $1000 for both of them so that's not a huge concern. |
| Does he like the cold? |
Doesn't mind it. |
| Slight edge to Madison. |
| Austin and Madison are both great, as are the business schools at both. Can't go wrong with either, TBH. |
| Huge football fan? Like cowboy boots? Where does he want to end up? |
Virginia cold doesn't even come close to Wisconsin cold. I knew someone from UW Madison and they had classes cancelled once because the windchill was -50!??!! |
Those temps are not normal winter temps for Wisconsin. (That was probably the year there was an extreme cold freeze across the country). It gets cold like in New England with four beautiful seasons. Both schools are great. Wisconsin has more out of state students and is less Greek. |
| Texas is also significantly more diverse, if that is a consideration for you. |
Good point. As a POC I would lean toward Texas, but we aren't sure of OP's child's race. |
| I went to Madison and think it's the best. It has amazing seasons, beautiful scenery (4 lakes and a river!), fun student body. You could t ask for a prettier student union and the faculty is great. So- UW all the way! |
| Both are in great cities. UW is more than 35% OOS students, Texas is less than 10% OOS. |
| Austin is so hot; how does he cope with the heat? It's worse there. |
|
The issue with UW Madison (a terrific school!) is the funding going forward. Remember Governor Scott Walker gutted it in a political act of record shortsightedness.

Austin is more fun than Madison and the girls are a lot hotter - it isn't close.
Madison will have a better network back east. |
