How competitive is MOCO U15? What is the acceptance rate of most clubs?

MOCO has 3 U15 teams this year. Their top team competed for a bid at CHRVA bids which is generally the top 12 teams in the region. Their second and third teams were roughly middle of the pack in CHRVA, around 70-80 out of ~160 teams. I think this year all three teams are going to AAU nationals.

Acceptance rate varies a lot by club and depends on how many players try out, how many returning players they have and if the coach or club is already recruiting players from other clubs. For the better teams and larger clubs its not unusual to see tryout numbers in the 80-140 player range, with ~12 players per team accepted. Some clubs take fewer (MVSA) while others sometimes take more (Metro, Paramount, MDJrs, VA Elite, etc.) You can see how many players are on the roster for teams you are interested in through AES.

If you are thinking about next club season, the best approach is to look at the results from the age group one year younger. Most clubs have a number of returning players each year. If you want to get a good idea of the competitive level prior to tryouts, the best approach is to go to the fall clinics that most clubs run.

We have a MOCO thread and these questions and insights would be better posted there in the long term. Let's keep this thread for camps, clinics, leagues and other types of Volleyball action.

MVSA Rec League is open for registration: https://www.mvsavbc.org/rec-registration
It fills out quickly, so sign up ASAP. My DD outgrew it, but we will remember it fondly. MVSA is great at balancing the teams to make sure the games are competitive - it was better than any tournaments we've been to.

4th of July sale (15% off) for the American University Camps: https://www.americanvolleyballcamp.com/.
The website also mentions a 10% early bird registration.
The short 2-hours camps come out at ~$40/hour, which I promised myself to never consider paying.
If anyone sees any benefit after attending these camps, please share! How did your athlete improve to justify this pricing?

I don’t understand the poster who keeps complaining about pricing. I wouldn’t be caught dead paying that. I wouldn’t throw away thousands of dollars for that. Volleyball is an expensive activity, PP. Someone is paying for these things, just not you. You don’t have to complain ever time you get sticker shock!

PP, it will get even more expensive if you are willing to throw money away. Look at it as me doing my part to keep prices down. If everyone accepts that volleyball is an expensive activity, we will soon pay Virginia-type prices everywhere. When they see your attitude, they are laughing all the way to the bank. It doesn't have to be that expensive if you add up the costs. It is their choice to charge as much as the suckers are willing to pay.
