Keeping cat out of bassinet & stroller

Anonymous
Aside from covering the bassinet & stroller with a towel, what else can I do to keep our cat out of them? This has stopped working. He never jumps in when baby is there, only when empty, but I don't want him in there ever. Any ideas?

Supposedly putting tin foil on counters keeps cats off of them. Maybe put some tin foil around the outside of the bassinet and/or keep them both in a closed room (bassinet/stroller, not cat)?

Cats usually hate lavender oil. Could you put a little lavender oil in the bassinet and the stroller? The cat will probably jump in a couple of times, sniff it and then jump right out. It works on our cats when we place a few drops around the bottom of the back door when they're begging to go outside. They just sniff it and then walk away.

Put tape sticky side up inside. A few times of getting tape stuck on her, my cat learned to stay away.

I put a throw pillow in the car seat and my 2 cats avoided it.

We keep the stroller folded and most of the time in the car.

I use a squirt bottle of water to keep cat out of the other baby gear (bouncer, car seat).

tin foil might actually work. but don't put it on the outside, just lay a piece inside the bassinet and stroller when the baby is elsewhere. You can reuse the same piece, so its not wasteful.

Otherwise, a citrus spray should deter them.

A friend gave me this tip to keep our cats off the counter. Turned out to be a way to introduce the cats to their new favorite toy. Nothing with tin foil is safe around here.

I gave up on keeping the cats out of the baby's stuff when baby wasn't in it. After a few weeks the novelty wore off and they stopped going in for the most part. Now they pretty much only go into the crib or on the changing pad if they want attention while I'm reading to DS.

Yes, a flick of water keeps my cat off the kitchen counters

I quit fighting them and just let the cats rule.

+1 All this was pretty much my experience.

Put cat in a room and close the door.

My cat has claimed one of the baby seats we have. As many times as I run her out she'll climb back in. If I shoo her out to put the baby in, she then climbs in on top without hesitation. I cannot for the life of me figure out what is so appealing about this seat versus all the other potential sleep sites in the house. I've just about given up and declared it the world's most expensive car bed.

Not helpful.

Should it live out the rest of its existence there? This is a living creature OP presumably loves.
