In the pic at the top of the article, Usha's hair looks amazing (if she dyed it and had this style it would be a knock out the park--30s is too young to succumb to gray hair)

The article picked the worst pics to show her shoes you could barely see them.

Didn't go to the link this time but I think I know which pic that was, with her hair styled. I thought the style was great and lively.

I cannot accept this woman hasn't even turned 40 yet. WTF happened?! She has melanin but the skin of a blue eyed blonde who spent the past 40 years sunscreenless on a beach in South Florida. It's unreal.

Her skin is not that bad. It's only the bags under her eyes, which is more likely exhaustion and hydration.

Indian women have those bags. I had them in my 30s. I'm just really good at color correcting.

Haha, I have them and am not good at color correcting! But many others aren’t great at it either.

I am her biggest hater but this is...fine

The top looks like a shell (not a seashell but the kind of base layer of clothing called a "shell"), looks like it needs a blazer, cardigan, wrap, scarf or something to complete the look.

No, it's blissfully simple.

Simple would have been a sleeveless sweater or sleeveless silk knit top with an interesting neckline. Not a shell in woven polyester that is obviously meant to be worn under something.

I bet you're the poster who always advocates "nice slacks, a lovely silk scarf, and a spritz of perfume" when people ask for clothing advice. Her top is obviously silk, not polyester.

No, it is not obviously silk, it doesn't look like silk (and yes different fabrics have different looks, another example, an acrylic sweater does not look wool).

Your "I bet" doesn't make any sense...when you are prone to put words in people's mouths, of course you think you know what they will say in random circumstances

Sorry, her top was definitely silk. But thanks for the lecture about different fabrics looking different, I had no idea!

NP, but I would say questionable. I can see her bra through it on one side, which doesn’t normally happen with a silk shell and is most unfortunate. You would think they would photoshop that out?

This is silly. Unless it's very cheap poly, you can't tell the difference in a picture at this resolution. There is also a lot of low quality silk and high quality poly these days.

Yes, you can tell the difference. The sheen, drape, texture are different between the two.

Do you all think this might be the blouse: https://www.brooksbrothers.com/sleeveless-shell-in-washable-silk/WV01334.html

Yes.

Not sure what you’re talking about. Her skin looks great here.

The poster just picked a weird pic. Generally Usha's skin looks bad but she used one of Usha's better pics to make the point lol.

It's also further away; if you look at most close ups of her she doesn't have that great of skin for a 39 year old POC.

Here is Usha's official portrait (haven't seen it posted on this thread):

I feel like there is a lot to unpack here. I do like the red lipstick.

I'm Indian-American, though a bit fairer-skinned with yellower undertones. I think you are confusing two things. There is a tendency for Indian skin that has bluer undertones to look ashy in photos, and there is aging skin (wrinkles etc). Usha's skin doesn't look aged. Her coloring sometimes looks a little ashy which can be corrected with the right ligthing and/or makeup, but not in this photo except under her eyes.

That got discussed when it came out around the Inauguration. It's fine.

She needs to stop with the camel. Brights and jewel tones are her friends.

Must have missed that. Agree about the camel. I guess that's why the red stands out.
