I know they should not be watching television really, but when they do get to that early stage where a couple of hours is harmless, which are the recommended programs these days and networks for very little ones?
Nick Jr., PBS, etc. and which shows are your babies favorites? |
I stopped referring to my child as a baby or an infant long before he turned two, which is the earliest age you should start screen time. But even at two, I wouldn't call a couple of hours "harmless". |
OP, ignore the perfect DCUM posters. Raise your child as you see fit. The tv was ons lot when I grew up and I have multiple Ivy League degrees. I have a one year old and he mainly ignores tv but responds to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for almost a full episode. An infant doesn't really have the attention span for tv....or anything else. |
Our 18 month old loves Sesame Street. Before 15 months or so she wouldn't pay attention to tv at all. (We are Stanford alums, if anyone's curious.) |
Why??? They don't have the attention span for it and will get nothing out of it. Please interact with your child. |
Mickey Mouse clubhouse and Little Einsteins. I went to JMU, so you should probably ignore my advice! |
None, you idiot. |
My one year old loves TMZ and Scandal. |

I hate when people say things like this. Imagine what ELSE you could have done, had you not had the tv on all the time. Or, imagine how much EASIER getting your multiple Ivy League degrees could have been. Why is good enough, good enough for people? |
My 11 month old basically ignores the TV (and I prefer it on for background noise - can't stand it being so quiet). The only shows that have caught is eye and he'll watch are Chica Show on Sprout and Color Crew on BabyFirst. |
oh stfu. |
At 2 my son enjoyed Yo Gabba Gabba and Curious George. |
Wow, that's harsh. I would not want to be raised in your house if that's how you respond to an advice seeking parent. Just wow. |
She didn't say 24/7, she didn't say now, and if the kid has no attention span they just won't watch. What's your issue? |
