My hcg number is only doubling every 72 hours (or increasing about 59% every 2 days)
first reading: ~250 second reading (a little bit less than 4 days later because of the weekend): ~640 I didn't have my normal nurse and the sub only said it was a nice rise (and the doctor wasn't concerned after I pressed her). any similar stories with a positive outcome? thanks! |
| wait for the 3rd one. anybody else's experience is irrelevant in this case, don't drive yourself nuts. |
| Although I usually tell patients the bhcg doubles every 48 hours, I've had obgyns tell me that some people take longer to double and it is still ok. So I wouldn't worry about it. If there is one thing I've learned, it's that a lot of patients don't follow the textbook. |
| If the doctor wasn't concerned after you pressed her, I think that's your answer. I am sorry you're stressed, though. Good luck. |

Try betabase.net.
Betas are not a very precise predictor of outcomes. I had a low beta and was told by a CFA doctor that I'd likely miscarry. I didn't, though! |

Of course any of our stories have no bearing on your outcome, but who doesn't obsess and Google looking for similar, positive outcomes? Only time will tell.
My 84 hour doubling beta between beta 1 and 2 had me in the dumps and I was certain it was over. Beta 3 picked up the pace and all was well. |
My doctor told me that as long as they are increasing by at least 45% every 2 days that you are okay. My numbers were only going up by35% which is why we knew something was wrong. |
| I'd be concerned, but I have a history of ectopic pregnancies and hopefully you don't. I wouldn't worry yet. |
| Any update, OP? |

Yes, HCG numbers dropped slightly. The prognosis is not good.
I have another HCG test tomorrow (to rule out a vanishing twin or another anomaly). But I have started to mourn & to figure out next steps. IVF takes a toll on you. I don't have any sense how common biochemical pregnancies are.... and whether this doesn't bode well for future cycles? |
Quite common. Outside of ART likely they happen frequently and are assumed to be just a late period. I had two (from the same cycle, a fresh blast and an FET) back to back. Did some testing to rule out any issues and found only a pretty common MTHFR mutation and then only later learned they weren't very good blasts. Next cycle was a success (twins). |
| I should have added, I'm so sorry for your roller coaster. |
