Thoughts on scores?

Race doesn't matter

Scores look ok but not great.

Agree with prior poster. I would imagine like other in pool kids, your kid has a 66% chance.

Pretty good shot, not a slam dunk on initial pass but appeal if not.

(FWIW they include race on the application, why would it be there if it didn't get used?)

Yes. FCPS tracks race and culture. Still not relevant to intelligence, though.

If denied, WISC and then decide if appeal is warranted.

Our aap coordinator quoted 85% of in pool as getting in

This is incorrect. 1/3 in pool kids aren't admitted.

I signed up my DC the other day for the STEM camp at Lake Braddock this summer. I was required to input his school ID #, and when I did, his demographic information was automatically filled in, including his race. By your logic, the STEM camp will somehow use his racial information during the camp, because why would it be on the registration.

Back to the OP- I would guess 65% chance of getting in.

op here - thanks! I'll circle back once we know for sure. We were urged to submit the parent referral by AART at our school. We don't plan on appealing so will see what happens. Thank you.

It's part of tracking the demographics for statistical purposes.

It plays no part in the admissions process, thankfully. Otherwise we'd be looking at a quota system.

I would guess 50% or less chance of getting in.

NNAT low, GBRS low compared to inpool cohorts. Expect to need to appeal, hoping you don't have to.

Any response here is just a guess.

Does the parent referral increase the chance of getting in - all other factors being equal?

Also, what about bi-lingual (ie multicultural) student?

Shouldn't a second language increase the chances of getting in?

Why would you not appeal?
