Call from Sidwell WL?

Did anyone else get a call today from Sidwell confirming if you want to stay on the WL?

I know of someone who got off the Sidwell WL for 9th.

Sidwell has definitely gone to their wait list - know of two kids who got calls for 9th today. Wonder where they are losing kids to, though?

I got a call today confirming whether DC was interested in remaining on PK WL.

I know 2 people who got in off the waitlist on Friday afternoon. Both in lower school.

We did get a call today confirming if we were committed to any school by now or wanted to be active on the WL. We responded saying, we secured a spot for our son last night but are still interested to stay on the WL should a spot open. Wondering, if having secured a spot at a different school will go against us and impact our chances?

I think this I ridiculous! If they called, then they should offer a spot or at least tell us where we are in the process. Its sending false hope in my opinion and I'm sick of it!

Sidwell needs to get off their high horse with this nonsense. Either offer a spot or don't.

Disagree. They don't know if they are a first choice or if they were accepted elsewhere that you are happy with. Clearly they may have spots and are working through to see who their realistic options from the Waitlist might be.

Does that mean that if you are accepted at another school; then your chances are lower to move up from the WL at Sidwell?

I'm the mom (white) who asked about Jack and Jill. Anyway, perhaps there needs to be a group for people like me. I did go to the Web site and found the reading list quite helpful.

I believe the admission committee will meet after spring break (in early April), go through their wait list and then offer spots. So most of the schools, especially the competitive ones, will not notify WL until mid April at the earliest.

??? I think you meant to post this on another thread -- the one about Black Parents. In any event, you don't need a group like Jack and Jill, you just need to surround yourself with decent Black and multiracial couples who all want the same things for their children.
