In a bind - Tampa trip spring break air done accommodations impossible

Anonymous
So we have tickets but no accommodation the reason it was left to last minute because there was a possibility we would have to cancel flight (family member health situation). I have spent about 5-6 hrs today looking at all possible 1 bedroom condos for $160 or less. We are traveling with a toddler with food allergies etc. so need a kitchen and a bedroom. Some with open calendars ended up being booked and the host/manager had not updated
Found a suite hotel by the airport but it has mixed reviews so not sure I want to risk that for one week. What would you do?

What are your dates? Do you have to stay in Tampa, i.e., are you renting a car/could you drive a bit to a destination?
Anonymous
Try Sanibel or Captiva.

Have you looked at St Petes Beach?

BTW, I think that $160 is low for what you need.

What's the hotel? Is it on Westshore? There is a pretty nice Mall right near the airport. The airport is also very close to the Courtney Campbell Causeway which will take you to the beaches. It's probably fine. That area is mostly businesses and stuff. Think Rockville Pike.

You may have to pay more. $160/night is low for FL for peak season.

Did you try air bnb?

If you have frequent health problems I recommend trip insurance

Try Hotwire ...the closer to the date...the better the deals.

Agree. I just looked last week because we thought we were going to Tampa, and I couldn't find anything in that price range for that size. YOu might find something if you head inland. I think there was a town called Lutz that had a Residence Inn, but I don't think it was too close to the beach.

Have you tried VRBO?

Another note for st. Pete's beach

Definitely try VRBO. You may need to give up gulffront/gulfview at this date/pricepoint. Try anywhere within a 1-2 hour drive of the Tampa airport.

Not to be a downer but since you waited late, you kinda have to take what's out there. Unless you really need to be in Tampa, I'd pick up a rental car and drive, you could definitely find something closer to Orlando. or go down towards St. Pete or even over to the ocean side.

There is no way she's going to find something on Sanibel/Captiva for $160 per night now.
