P.S. The Post’s editorial board also had the very first report on the Ukraine scandal, which doesn’t really belong here because there are 500 other threads about it. “But we’re reliably told that the president has a second and more venal agenda: He is attempting to force Mr. Zelensky to intervene in the 2020 U.S. presidential election by launching an investigation of the leading Democratic candidate, Joe Biden. Mr. Trump is not just soliciting Ukraine’s help with his presidential campaign; he is using U.S. military aid the country desperately needs in an attempt to extort it.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/global-opinions/is-trump-strong-arming-ukraines-new-president-for-political-gain/2019/09/05/4eb239b0-cffa-11e9-8c1c-7c8ee785b855_story.html |
“The Federal Election Commission is investigating potentially improper “straw man donations” to Rep. Steve Watkins’ 2018 campaign that were paid for by his father — the latest political headache for the embattled Kansas Republican.“

Next administration needs to create a broad task force to investigate Trump and all his henchmen. I?d bet 50% are found to be committing crimes. |
A $149,000 federal tax lien against York County, PA Republican sheriff candidate Shane Becker and his wife is related to unpaid taxes on income collected from Ed4Mil LLC, a now-defunct company that scammed more than $30 million in tax dollars from veterans, Becker confirmed.

Ex-L.A. Councilman Englander charged with obstruction in probe alleging lavish spending and escorts
https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-03-09/ex-l-a-councilman-mitchell-englander-surrenders-in-federal-probe Also in WaPo: https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/03/10/los-angeles-councilman-escort-fbi/#comments-wrapper Englander served on the council from 2011 until Dec. 31, 2018, when he abruptly resigned in the middle of the probe and took a job in the private sector. He was the only registered Republican on the council, representing some of the city’s more conservative neighborhoods in the San Fernando Valley. He also served on the Planning and Land Use Management Committee, which oversees major development projects, prosecutors said. When he left in 2018, he got mixed reviews from residents, at least some of whom viewed him as too friendly with real estate developers. “He’s just sided with the money people, big developers, for a long time over the wishes of the people,” Jim Summers, a former president of the Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council, told the Los Angeles Times then. The wealthy person who took Englander to Las Vegas, who was not identified by prosecutors, worked on “major development projects” in the city. Seeking to increase his business opportunities, the businessman bought influential public officials flashy gifts or simply handed out wads of cash, according to the indictment. He helped organize the June 2017 trip to Las Vegas for Englander, two of the councilman’s staffers, a lobbyist and another influential developer. He lent Englander $1,000 in casino chips and went on to foot the bill for a $2,481 dinner and $24,000 in bottle service, prosecutors say. |

Wow. Is there anyone left in the GOP who isn’t deeply corrupt? |
“Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R), who was accused of winning office through voter suppression, is now facing similar accusations for canceling a state supreme court election that was scheduled for May 19.
Kemp told Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger that he would fill the seat by appointment, even though the seat won’t be vacant for another nine months. And his appointee won’t have to stand for reelection until 2022. The two candidates who had planned to run for the seat have filed lawsuits to force Raffensperger to reopen the filing process. Former U.S. Rep. John Barrow (D) wanted to run for the seat being left vacant by Justice Keith Blackwell, whose term concludes at the end of the year. He called the canceling of the election “an unprecedented power grab” and “the ultimate act of voter suppression.” https://thesupremecourts.org/2020/03/10/1110/ |

To the point of the OP ... I feel moderate Republicans like Romney and McCain are decent. The constituents who voted for trump and worship him are the problems. I think those people are secretly committing all sorts of unethical deeds and crimes the same ones that trump does. See in the news those parents who abuse their children and pedophiles who kidnap kids ... those are maga minded people. |
It is a tricky call in the face of broader health issues, but a republican governor just shut down a democratic primary (ohio) - it seems like the election agency for each state needs to immediately make plans for mail in ballots for November. It sets an incredibly dangerous precedent for a governor to violate a court order like this.
