Prepping/Scamming the Cogat

Anonymous
But it's always a good idea for parents of young children to see this because it will cause them to question the advisability of CogAT prep and the intentions of those trying to sell it.

FCPS staff members chose to administer the custom form of the CogAT this year after it came to our attention that some students, in previous years, had prepared for the CogAT using the exact form of the CogAT being administered in FCPS.

What does ths mean?

Ask the Advanced Academics Resource Teacher at your child's school. Or your child's classroom teacher or the school counsellor or principal. Any of those school professionals could explain it to you.

I will. I understand you may not be the right person since you don't have the knowledge or understand yourself.

Thanks any way.

AAP is run by the school and the first and second grade tests are given by the school. The school can provide the best information to the parent.

On this board, we can bring FCPS general information to the attention of parents, but parents should talk to school faculty to get individual advice on their personal situation.

blah, blah, blah,... "exact form of the test"

What does ths mean?

It means that FCPS has dug themselves into a pretty deep hole with this whole AAP thing.

The primary metric for determining if students get into an clearly superior academic program is to give students a few 30 questions tests that your children can obviously get a better score on if you spent oh and hour or so with them studying a few dozen practice questions. So of course what happens is that some parents prep their kids and then a whole bunch of other parents freak out on threads like this including at least one world class internationally recognized scientist with an IQ of 160 as well a few other posters who I suspect may have some mental health issues.

Will FCPS be in a big hurry to fill in this particular hole? Probably not, guaranteeing that threads like this will continue for years to come...

Thanks mam or FCPS.

posters who I suspect may have some mental health issues.

Are they posters you know?

Amazing. 30 questions on one day of the week and one point in time is all that it takes to condemn and incarcerate a 7 yr old to a third rate educational tract?

Truly, amazing. I didn't realize the significance thanks for your highlight.

What happened to best of seven final championship match or even multiple points for trend and significance?

And some little old biddie is making a big fuss over prepping for 30 questions and claiming these cheetahs are the cause of the achievement and performance gap?

What about that huge gap in other zip codes in America?

Do all the kids get these 30 questions?

Wait how did I know there are 30 questions?
I confess I smuggled the exact form of the test.

That's self incrimination, isn't it?

Kids in appropriate classes in FCPS all have access to a first rate education.

If I don't like FCPS, I have other choices: private school, religious school, or homeschool.

No need to act as though AAP is the only way to get a good education in FCPS.

I see a business opportunity. Thank you FCPS. Do you want to partner with me under the sheets?

Are appropriate classes defined by how a 7 yr old answers 30 questions on a given day in her life?

Great business opportunity here. Shucks, I'm in the wrong profession.
