Beauvoir Graduating Class

What percentage typically matriculates to STA/NCS and then what schools (and typically how many per school) do the rest of the class matriculate to?
Anonymous
Well over half of the boys go to STA, around half of the girls – varies by year – to NCS. Other schools that get high numbers include Holton, Maret, Sidwell, GDS.

Has to be more than half the boys as that would be between 15-20 - right. Everyone says typically 30 go each year but that this year it could be as high as 33-35 boys. Anyone from Beauvour class willing to share numbers? How many spots already taken by early decision back in December? Some one said there might only be 2-3 spots available this year for STA 4th grade after Beauvour+siblings+choristers. Could that be correct?

At least 30 spots this year have already gone to Veavoir boys. Not sure how many more.

The numbers are misleading...many skip right to Harvard.

I'm really starting to think Beauvoir is filled with a bunch of snotty nut job parents - how many threads do we need to create about how many kids from Beauvoir get accepted into STA.

It's anywhere between 5-12 kids a year. Depends on how deep the pool of applicants is.

It's probably not Beauvoir parents posting but rather other parents who are thinking of applying for their kids to go to STA or NCS and want the know how many of the fourth grade slots are already taken by Beauvoir kids. V

As the pp said it is the "outsiders" (those not in any preference group) wanting to know probable # of available spots. There is a big difference in odds if it is 2 spots vs 5-7 spots vs 12 spots. We all know this is probably impossible but in this weekend/last 72 hours period it is very hard to keep your hopes in check. Understanding the odds help keep everything realistic.

I'm 10:25 and 11:44. I am a Beauvoir 3rd grade parent. And was simply answering a question to be helpful. You don't have to choose to believe it, but it's what we've heard at school.

There is nothing 'nut job' about saying Beauvoir gets a ton of kids into STA/NCS, PP. Its just true. The schools have a strong relationship, and both STA and NCS conduct early admission processes in the fall exclusively for Beauvoir students. Many families enroll at Beauvoir over other schools for this advantage in admissions later (mine included). There is an implicit understanding that if a child does well at Beauvoir, they will get in. And this year there was an unusually high number of boys who applied early and were admitted in December. If you really want to know the odds to be realistic, know that STA saw and accepted unusually high numbers of BVR boys early this year, and also had to turn away a few they normally would have taken because if the sheer numbers.

Are you saying there are Beauvoir boys who applied early to STA and we're not admitted through the early admission process this year?

Beauvoir has 80 kids per grade (40 girls and 40 boys), right? So they send how many of those to STA? 20-30?

Hi there. Beauvoir parent here. Beauvoir sends about 30-33 boys every year to STA and about 25-28 girls to NCS. If they don't attend STA or NCS, they end up usually at one of these schools: Sidwell, Maret, GDS, or Holton.

I don't know why people are shocked every year to find out that there are only 8-10 spots available at most for non-Beauvoir boys at STA. And then there are always 2-3 siblings of other current STA students who aren't at Beauvoir. Then there are a handful of choristers who aren't Beauvoir kids who get in. So realistically - there are only 2-5 spots available for all the other applicants. It's tough. 6th and 7th grades are the best options for those who don't fit in the above categories (about ten boys per year admitted). 9th grade admits about 20 more (plys a few additional as a result of some STA boys applying out b/c of academic troubles) - but they tend to be academic and/or sports super stars.
