Initial reaction: Leela = Indian and Layla = Arab/slightly more western or common.
LOVE both names though and know wonderful people with both names. Both people like their name. |
| Leela sounds like a Dr. Seuss character but Layla is pretty, if somewhat trendy. |
| I prefer Leyla. |
|
Forgive me for what I am about to say:
What's wrong with Larla? |
Love Leela
|
| Laaaayla. You've got me on my knees. |
| Leila. |
| I prefer Lila. But that's just me. |
Generally agree with this PP, but Leela I think of the human Sesame Street character Layla the Eric Clapton song. |
| I like both, but Leela is more unusual and very sweet. |
| I prefer Layla. Agree with pp that Leela makes me think of children's shows. |

^^ This. Have the same cultural associations, both with specific kids I know with these names. Either works depending on what you prefer. |
