What do you think and why?

Initial reaction: Leela = Indian and Layla = Arab/slightly more western or common.

LOVE both names though and know wonderful people with both names. Both people like their name.

Leela sounds like a Dr. Seuss character but Layla is pretty, if somewhat trendy.

I prefer Leyla.

Generally agree with this PP, but Leela I think of the human Sesame Street character Layla the Eric Clapton song.

I like both, but Leela is more unusual and very sweet.

I prefer Layla. Agree with pp that Leela makes me think of children's shows.

^^ This. Have the same cultural associations, both with specific kids I know with these names. Either works depending on what you prefer.
