at home fitness or training to build strength?

Before kids, I was pretty active - athlete in college, as an adult running, classes, yoga....now less and less.
I get some cardio into my day, about 30 to 45 minutes walking my dog. Not fast but I'm moving.
I do no have a routine for strengthening.
Can people recommend at home strengthening regimens that are available online or for purchase on DVD. I'm thinking it has to be quick and easy.

I probably need something motivating to get to a basic level (or I would just do calisthenics!). Thanks!

Strength training is neither quick nor easy, unless you know what you're doing and you've got a good routine.

You can get into lifting kettlebells, but it has a steep learning curve and you'd need to get started with a good personal trainer.

P90X. It really works if you follow the program and stick with it. Even just doing the strength training videos 3 days a week would yield results.

Jari Love has some great DVDs

Trainer best idea to jump start. Kinda costly - Join gym, time for gym, cost of trainer.... but it's your health.

I would do P30x, not the 90. I'd also try my favorite: look into a daily burn subscription. It has been awesome!!

I think the beach body programs are great and I have heard great things about Hammer And chisel. have not tried it but love the 21day fix extreme workouts.

Jillian Michaels Body Revolution or Ripped in 30.

I do yoga at home using YouTube videos (and now sometimes improvise) and my strength has built immensely. I've been doing a vinyasa flow daily practice for about 7 months, supplementing with a studio Power Yoga class once a week. Videos vary in length from 10-50 minutes. People have commented on my shoulder and arm muscles, and my legs and abs are noticeably more defined too.

You are not going to build strength doing these. Yes, you will increase your cardio capacity, but you won't get strong.

Saw ad for 10 min workout with the beach body guy. My husband did p90 and loved it, but seemed long each day. I think the beach guy has good reputation and 10 mins. Is completely reasonable . Goood luck!
